WEEK 3 - TRIAL

The morning seemed so far away yesterday - yet, it also seems too soon when morning comes and you are all yet again ushered to the third floor by The Lady. The Captain is there, in all of his....wait, no, he's asleep.
The doors close, and...nothing happens. There's still the box labeled 'VOTES' in his lap on the couch, but...
On the table is a letter, that reads 'Only one person may be voted for execution this week. Please figure out who that will be during the time limit.'
As you finish reading that, music begins to play in the room...
23 GUESTS REMAIN.

We found this Knife near Iwai-san's body in the gravity room.
Then I... changed to sniff out the areas. There were three different scents in total - The Acrid smell - the Barghest, the smell of spiders, and a third smell
[One that seem weird]

We found Shirou in the courtyard. He was wrapped up in silk, but it didn't look like Jorogumo got him. No bite marks, and he had all his fluids...save for some of his blood that came out of the cocoon. Seems he was killed by a sword wound to the heart. There was another to the abdomen, and some scars on his back. Looked like lightning was responsible.
Couldn't figure out footprints in the snow. Too scuffed up.

Me and Akira managed to get the silk this time, so I brought it in case someone can figure anything out from it.
[Though it seems to be attached to a stick now?]

Importantly, this is not how this sword is supposed to be used.

Inaba-san was wrapped in spider silk in the greenhouse. She had two marks on her neck, but they didn't look consistent with each other. One looked to be a rougher bite mark, while the other looked cleaner. It seemed like she'd probably been drained that way?
There wasn't any sign of a struggle.

I don't know if that really points to anything either way, since either a Japanese or western person would have a symbolic reason to choose that particular spot, but...

FOOT CHECK
So there were wet footprints leading from the pool to Owain-kun's room. That's probably got something to do with the sword and what happened to Shirou-kun but first of all... I want to make sure who matches the prints.

ALIBI CHECK
Alright, seriously we need to focus here— before this trial becomes even more of a mess. So where was was everyone on Thursday night before we passed out?
I'll start off by saying I was on my own in my room that night.

CAT HERDING!!!
[raising his voice to get everyone's attention]
We've discussed a lot of things, but I want to focus on Shirou's death the most of all. It's the odd one out, and even if we believe that the evidence pointing to Owain is planted, there's still a lot we can learn from the scene.
[HOLDS UP A FINGER]
One: Shirou wasn't killed the same way the Barghest and the Jorogumo killed in weeks before. It's possible he was killed by the third monster, whose name we don't know.
Two: he was struck by lightning on his back, and then stabbed with a sword. His body was wrapped in the Jorogumo's webbing, and he smelled of the Barghest. Which. . . maybe the Jorogumo and the Barghest assisted in his death somehow. Either by covering it up, or helping subdue him while the third monster took his life.
Three: Owain-san's Levin Sword can be used by anyone, so long as they know it's capable of shooting lightning. The people he told about the sword's ability include Cinque, Iwai, Gerome-san, Tsumugi-san, Cynthia-san and Makoto.
[a deep breath]
. . . that's all I have for now. But if anyone out there knows the name of the third monster, I feel like that knowledge will help us out a lot.

CATHERD 2.0
[A deep breath, which she lets out in a sigh. They've definitely made progress, but not in a direction that's absolutely helpful for the vote.]
We know that the Barghest killed Iwai-san, but we don't know who the gloves there belonged to, or what the story is on the items in the room with him. We know that the Jorogumo killed Inaba-san, but we haven't narrowed anything down, other than that the killer might have been close to her -- she called them a 'Tsunderegumo' -- and knows the symbolism of spider lilies. We know that the Doppelganger as Owain killed Shirou-kun, and that the Barghest and the Jorogumo were somehow involved, but we only know that the Jorogumo put up a web there and used web at the pool. A little like when it killed Granz-san, with the towel.
We probably know the motive for the murders: the mafia somehow found out about the Seeker and the Inquisitor, and wanted to go after Iwai-san to get back at Akira-kun.
I think we should look at the questions we haven't answered about the murders, and also look at the relationship of the killers to the dead. Shirou-kun was tricked, and Inaba-san seems to have been ambushed, but how did Iwai-san get to the second floor? Was there someone close to Inaba-san she would have opened the door for at that time of night? How was the Barghest involved with Shirou-kun's death?
And if anyone has more details on any of the murder scenes or the victims or anything else, now's the time.
no subject
[. . .]
. . . since none of the evidence is really pointing us to anyone, and because evidence hasn't been an important factor in voting in the past two trials, I'm going to go with my gut this week.

NOMINATIONS FOR DEAD
OKAY, LISTEN UP, PEOPLE.
Since all of you are so great at jumping around the issue when it comes to shit that's hard to say, let me just say it: we need names.
We don't have time to reason out anything much anymore, we only have time to avoid a mess like in the first week. Let's reduce the pool of people to vote for.
Cinque has been accused, Atsushi keeps coming back up, the whole Akira-Makoto-Minato-Atsushi circle also keeps coming back up one way or another. Anyone else?

A last minute question
[Unless turning into Owain gave the doppelgänger magic, maybe this could narrow it down?]
RESULTS
And suddenly, he vanishes.
At that moment, The Lady rushes in - swinging the doors open, her beautiful face creasing in worry as she notices that The Captain is gone.]
...Ah. I see...it's gotten that bad.
[With slow, mournful steps, The Lady picks up the box he left behind, staring into the slot before making it vanish. That accomplished, she turns around - the epitome of poise and grace, despite her obvious worry and sorrow.]
...The votes have been tallied.
Minato Arisato has been convicted at the one most guilty in these murders. However, he was innocent, and his role was that of a Peasant. As per the game, tomorrow he will be executed, unless another role decides to use their power to overturn the vote.
He will be sequestered in his room, with myself guarding, and fed his final meal. If you would wish to speak with him in the hours before his death, feel free - though any escape or rescue attempts will be thwarted.
Have a good day, Guests.
[And after saying that?
She goes to the bathroom to wash her hands of this whole affair.]
