WEEK 3 - TRIAL

TRIAL

The morning seemed so far away yesterday - yet, it also seems too soon when morning comes and you are all yet again ushered to the third floor by The Lady. The Captain is there, in all of his....wait, no, he's asleep.

The doors close, and...nothing happens. There's still the box labeled 'VOTES' in his lap on the couch, but...

On the table is a letter, that reads 'Only one person may be voted for execution this week. Please figure out who that will be during the time limit.'

As you finish reading that, music begins to play in the room...

Minato's quiet for a moment, hands shoved into his pockets, before he just tilts his head a little.]

Mm, well... try not to feel too bad about it, if you can... the logic wasn't bad, you know...?

You're getting a sudden hug from a ghost because of this.]

[Aw... quietly, he just hugs back, eyes sliding shut.]

[Make that two.

This one comes with tears.]

Quietly, he rests a hand on top of said ghost's head.]

[ There's so much... conflict on his face??? Why does he give a shit about finding something to say... This is... really fucking annoyingly strange. He feels so pissed, so... at a fucking loss...

And it's obvious for just a moment. But all that comes out after a long pause? Something that won't have context and that nobody other than Minato could possibly hope to get: ]

[ He stares at the floor for a moment... ]

[ Why can't his fist unclench... He releases an unsteady laugh. ]

[She's already crying, silently, but she locks eyes with him and it definitely gets exponentially worse. She doesn't come over, though -- not right now, she just buries her face in her hands.

Give her a little while and she'll pull herself together, but right now there's nothing she can say.]

[Poor Aoi... he locks eyes with her and sees the tears, and it makes him frown a little bit.]

Hey... it's going to be okay.

[He musters up a small smile.]

I have faith in you guys.

[There's a long, loud pause, where she's just trying to pull it together enough to retort and only really succeeding in slinging tears everywhere while she's furiously wiping them away. Then she gives up and just--]

It's not okay, we messed up, we haven't -- we haven't gotten anywhere since that first week, have we? There's just no way--

[Her voice breaks, she doesn't finish. Why have faith in them when they haven't earned any of it?]
