WEEK 3 - TRIAL

TRIAL

The morning seemed so far away yesterday - yet, it also seems too soon when morning comes and you are all yet again ushered to the third floor by The Lady. The Captain is there, in all of his....wait, no, he's asleep.

The doors close, and...nothing happens. There's still the box labeled 'VOTES' in his lap on the couch, but...

On the table is a letter, that reads 'Only one person may be voted for execution this week. Please figure out who that will be during the time limit.'

As you finish reading that, music begins to play in the room...

VICTIM: SHIROU EMIYA, HIMEKO INABA, AND MUNEHISA IWAI

23 GUESTS REMAIN.

[hnnrrhhh]

We've got two common denominators. Akira, and Makoto.

[What that means has yet to become more clear.]

How does Shirou come into it?
purrtagonist: an unduncle, if you will (congrats you're an undead uncle)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-12-15 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew Shriou's role. That's why I made the big display I did at the last trial, to make people think I was the Seeker.

[to protect Shirou]

[that sure as shit didn't work out as planned]

I didn't tell anyone about his role as the Seeker. Not even Inaba, when she told me she was the Inquisitor.
tacticalespionageaction: (hhhnnrrhhh)

[personal profile] tacticalespionageaction 2018-12-15 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Not even her?

[Gestures towards Makoto.]
justfists: siberia @ dw (The annoyed student profile look)

[personal profile] justfists 2018-12-15 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
No.

I also specifically asked Inaba to not tell me what her role was.
justfists: (The self assured look of confidence)

[personal profile] justfists 2018-12-15 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Because the barghest wasn't dead, and we didn't know where it would end up next. I wanted to reduce the potential of her getting hurt. And I didn't need to know any roles to make arguments at these trials.

I would have done the exact same thing I did last week, even if Akira had never told me what he knew about the Barghest.
purrtagonist: (The hedge appears to be carnivorous)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-12-15 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Not even her.

[he'll tell Makoto a lot of things, but other people's roles? not one of them]
13thpromise: (The nightmare)

[personal profile] 13thpromise 2018-12-15 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ...hm. ]

...Do you know if Shirou told anyone else or...?
purrtagonist: (Can I roll to intimidate the XP counter)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-12-15 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[shakes his head]

He never told me that he told anyone else, but that doesn't mean he didn't.

[. . .]

He was going to check Cynthia-san this week.
13thpromise: (in a smile)

[personal profile] 13thpromise 2018-12-15 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... he looks thoughtful. ]

Alright. He never told you he told anyone else, but...do you know if he trusted anyone else?
purrtagonist: (Did I just kinkshame a dragon to death)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-12-15 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know for certain, but somehow? I doubt it.
moonlightbeast: (32)

[personal profile] moonlightbeast 2018-12-15 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Emiya-san was the Seeker, right? Kurusu-san was the one who told me about Flat-san's role last week. He probably got that information from Emiya-san.

So the question is, who did Emiya-san and Kurusu-san tell that information to?

tacticalespionageaction: (hnnnrrrghhhh)

[personal profile] tacticalespionageaction 2018-12-15 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You know who he was close with?

[Snake did...not get to know Shirou much.]
moonlightbeast: (29)

[personal profile] moonlightbeast 2018-12-15 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shakes his head.]

Maybe Kurusu-san or Niijima-san knows, though?
latebluemer: (説明しなさい)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-15 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
... It might not necessarily be just who they told. Last week, at the trial, when Niijima-san and especially Akira-kun revealed the Barghest's name, it was pretty obvious from your reactions who was closest to them and the information and who wasn't. You, Nakajima-kun. Inaba-san. Shirou-kun. Arisato-kun.

[That was something she'd noted, low-key, but she hadn't had quite enough information on roles or familiarity with mafia to put it all together.]
messianic: (They use that power against me)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-12-15 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think... they took a wild stab out of the people who reacted differently, and just got... well, lucky?

[The word feels wrong in this context, but that's what it would be for the mafia, right?]
justfists: siberia @ dw (The hmmmm look)

[personal profile] justfists 2018-12-15 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That's entirely possible.
latebluemer: (バサッ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-15 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
This is a game about who you can trust, right? I don't know how much the roles know about each other, but the Barghest talked about it a lot, too. Choosing people based on who you're closest to. It's not a far stretch to think that the information on the Barghest would have come from that group.

And if there are three monsters, they have... a pretty good chance, of landing on something.

[It really sounds terrible when they talk about it in game terms.]
messianic: (Tending to pleasure or to pain:-)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-12-15 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
... Yeah, they do. They targeted both Inaba-san and Shirou-san, both who were part of that group, so...

[It seems very possible. And it could've very easily been him or Atsushi or Makoto instead, which is...sobering.]
latebluemer: (絶対勝つ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-15 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Which also means that you, Nakajima-kun and Niijima-san and Akira-kun still have to keep your guards up, Arisato-kun. I'm going to be pretty mad if any of you die on us.

[Good! It should be sobering! She's making it more sobering by the minute because that's all of their lives now, okay. That being said, while it's a type of lead it still doesn't lead them to anyone who could have used the information. Hm.]

[personal profile] moonlightbeast 2018-12-15 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be fine.

[He says that automatically.]

But we need to protect the others.
messianic: (of plaintive sweetness)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-12-15 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
... I'll be careful. I promise.

We have too much work to do here to die now.

[There's still too much that needs to be done--too many lives are still at stake. He's long since given up on the thought of sacrificing himself to let other people live, don't worry; it'd be pretty selfish considering the situation.]

... Let's keep thinking these things through. Something will come up.
purrtagonist: (we all have battle pope robes)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-12-15 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I told you, Makoto and Minato. That's it.

But I didn't tell any of you who the Seeker was.

As far as I know, Shirou only told me.
relentlesslyonwards: (...)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-12-15 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... we know that Akira had to get the information about the Barghest from someone. And we know now that he's not the Seeker, so...
