WEEK 3 - TRIAL

The morning seemed so far away yesterday - yet, it also seems too soon when morning comes and you are all yet again ushered to the third floor by The Lady. The Captain is there, in all of his....wait, no, he's asleep.
The doors close, and...nothing happens. There's still the box labeled 'VOTES' in his lap on the couch, but...
On the table is a letter, that reads 'Only one person may be voted for execution this week. Please figure out who that will be during the time limit.'
As you finish reading that, music begins to play in the room...
23 GUESTS REMAIN.

We found Shirou in the courtyard. He was wrapped up in silk, but it didn't look like Jorogumo got him. No bite marks, and he had all his fluids...save for some of his blood that came out of the cocoon. Seems he was killed by a sword wound to the heart. There was another to the abdomen, and some scars on his back. Looked like lightning was responsible.
Couldn't figure out footprints in the snow. Too scuffed up.

Why would it change how it kills? It's pretty hard to beat spider powers already, I would have expected them to go with what works.

[He didn't know Shirou well, but if he made it through this kind of thing before, then maybe.]
Or maybe Jorogumo only arrived after. Don't know why it wouldn't eat him, though.

Could be it wasn't hungry.
[Was that too simple?]
Doesn't explain wrapping him up though. With the blood in there, it couldn't have been long after he died.

We did get that puzzle this week, so you could be right. Maybe not knowing the kind of spirit they are will hinder us in some way.

[And Iwai somehow fits into this Ripley rubs the back of her neck, frowning.]
Is there anyone we know who is proficient in using swords?
no subject
[and, perhaps, to explain:]
I was with him when he was practicing this week. He's not half bad.
no subject
You think he could be responsible for this?
no subject
[He doesn't want to think so, but...]
We can't rule anyone out. He's as good a suspect as any, right now.

[Hmm.] Did you have your sword on you Thursday evening?

[In fact, he does have his tachi sheathed at his hip right now, as if to punctuate that point. People may have also seen him up early in the mornings practising in the courtyard throughout their stay.]
If you have any questions for me, I'll do my best to answer them.

Thank you. If we think of anything, we'll be sure to ask you.
[She trusts his expertise.]

I'm rusty, but I do know a little bit. But, um, I usually fight with my fists.
[Or claws.]

Any knowledge is valuable. It can help us eliminate discrepancies among the theories that pop up about the sword.

But it looks like the Jorogumo killed Inaba and helped kill Shirou. I wouldn't have killed Inaba, and I wouldn't have worked with her killer.
[He wants to say he wouldn't have killed anyone, but. Well. Blanket statements like that won't do any good. Might as well stick with what can be proven.]

Who here has lightning abilities? That's difficult to replicate, isn't it?
no subject
I know for certain Owain does. He showed me the sword that was used.
[then she beat him up]
But this feels... weirdly obvious, compared to the other two. Would the Jorogumo get sloppy like this?
no subject
Was Owain's sword used to kill Shirou?
