TRIAL

The morning seemed so far away yesterday - yet, it also seems too soon when morning comes and you are all yet again ushered to the third floor by The Lady. The Captain is there, in all of his....wait, no, he's asleep.

The doors close, and...nothing happens. There's still the box labeled 'VOTES' in his lap on the couch, but...

On the table is a letter, that reads 'Only one person may be voted for execution this week. Please figure out who that will be during the time limit.'

As you finish reading that, music begins to play in the room...

Before midnight. After that, I passed out.

[She frowns, tapping a finger against her chin.]

[opens his mouth, then closes it again quickly, expression slack]

Shirou didn't make it to the room at all last night, so she couldn't have left with him. . . and I don't remember seeing Owain at all.

[xenoqueen]

[Ripley closes her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose.]

Maybe he didn't leave the room, but I'm definitely sure I saw him.

[purrtagonist]

Owain, right?

[. . .]

There were footprints leading from the pool to his room, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that you saw him on that side of the hallway last night. . .

[justfists]

[she tilts her head, her expression immediately suspicious]

I was never with Owain last night. I did have a conversation with Shirou.

[purrtagonist]

[places a hand on her shoulder]

Easy.

. . . she means well.

[justfists]

[that's still a lot to bring up suddenly...]

I wanted to get to know Shirou. I assumed he would be staying with us every week, so we chatted about that, and... well, about the information that had come out on Thursday.

Owain wasn't with us when that happened.

[purrtagonist]

[Akira nods, satisfied by that response]

When did you see Shirou? And where?

[justfists]

Before the curfew-- II:30? I came back to the room, after he told me he'd be there soon.

[she just inhales and then exhales slowly.]

If I saw Owain with Shirou at all, I would've brought it up.

[purrtagonist]

I know.

[gives her arm a squeeze]

Did Shirou say where he was going when you split up?

[justfists]

Just that he wanted to grab something from his room.

There were 15 minutes before curfew, so I thought he had plenty of time.

[she leans against him a little]

[purrtagonist]

. . .

I spoke with him yesterday. When I asked how he was feeling, he said he "felt like an idiot" and that he "should have known not to--"

And the rest was censored.

[justfists]

Something must have happened between him going back to his room and when we separated.

[she just. should have stayed with him.]

[purrtagonist]

Mmm.

That's what it sounds like.

[she should've dragged him to the room kicking and screaming]

It's not your fault.

[he refuses to let her shoulder that blame]

[she looks up at him, and just. smiles a bit, but it's not meeting her eyes.]
