WEEK 4 MINGLE

The weekend that just passed was....frankly, a lot. Yet despite all odds, you somehow pulled out a win from the jaws of utter defeat. As you wake up feeling tired but happy, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.
"Attention, Guests. This week, The game is temporarily suspended. This week, there will be no mafia kill. Take a break for your hard work."
And...indeed, it seems like this is a peace week. The Staff, after the disappearance of The Captain, are acting worse than they did last week - not only is there the blankness and the stuttering, but sometimes they even get orders wrong, with potentially hazardous results. Asking the Staff for things has become more dangerous and unreliable, but at least you meals are still good. Speaking of, The Chef has put a sign up on the door, reading "DO NOT TAKE KNIVES WITHOUT ASKING FIRST!! THAT MEANS YOU!!" written in big, angry letters. The resort also seems to be gearing up for Christmas - there are lights and trees scattered around the place, as well as mistletoe for couples to get their public displays of affection on. There's also some other holiday decorations around, for Kwanzaa and....something else you definitely have never seen before. The thing....wriggles, and you don't want to be around it for long.
The weather is still nothing, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.
On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Are you getting closer to the truth of this place, maybe? It's hard to say.

If one pays real close attention to the spines of said pile, they might notice that there seems to be a theme here.
...Cats?
Hm.
If you don't manage to accidentally run into them, you might later instead find them in the restaurant proper with some curry, coffee, and a notepad right next to them, flipping through pages in what can almost be called a frantic manner.
This is probably fine.]

Today, Ripley has been wandering listlessly about the hallways, observing the decorations that have been put up by the Staff. Occasionally, she'll stop and stare at them, tilting her head. She'll try to make conversation with whoever passes by to try and make the encounter less awkward--]
You know, I never really celebrated Christmas until I went to Earth.
[Later, you might stumble upon her working out at the dojo. She's switched out into a more comfortable outfit--a tank top and sweatpants with boxer's tape wrapped around her hands. She doesn't look like she slept particularly well, but that doesn't seem to stop her from beating the shit out of a training dummy. Her expression becomes more intense, sweat glistening on her face as she dishes out blow after blow, which eventually culminates into her summoning a chair.
With a roar, she grips the chair in both hands and throws it at the dummy. Except the chair slips out from her hands and ends up going way beyond where she was aiming--right towards you. Her expression immediately becomes terrified as she leaps forward, trying to desummon the chair in mid-air before it hits.]
Oh, shit--I'm, I'm so sorry!

Honestly, the most she's seen of a dojo before is on TV or in a VR game or two that had the right theme. So she's a little distracted when Ripley's big ol' roar almost makes her jump out of her skin with a startled yell back.
The chair shows up in her peripheral vision and in a movement that seems a little too quick, she ducks right under it, whip materializing in her hands. The chair crashes behind her spectacularly and breaks a leg.]
... Ripley-san? It's okay. It's just a chair.
[She's not entirely sure she wants to eat chair all the time, but she can make an exception for a freak accident.]

For starters, Atsushi seems to be moving a bit more freely than before? Whereas he previously used to turn in on himself a lot and not jump around too much, now he's acting more like a normal person would. Hm.
He spends most of the day avoiding the mistletoe, but he does study the holiday decorations curiously. Because it's a bit confusing to him.]
Why would they decorate so much for such a minor holiday? And where's the fried chicken?
[Yep.
Anyway, at some point later in the day he can be found in the lobby, sitting on a couch. That's when he finally pulls out the fortune cookie got got last week, and he opens it. Maybe some good luck will be in his near future.]
...what? "Great things come in small packages?" What does that even-
[And he doesn't even finish his sentence, because suddenly in a poof of smoke, Atsushi has been transformed into a small white-and-black tabby shorthair cat.
Said cat is now letting out a loud meow that can probably be translated as 'FUCK'.]

Later in the day though, he's more or less back to normal outside of some irregular breaths every now and then, and he seems to spend most of his afternoon in the lobby. He's quite still as he intently tracks the rats' movements through their tunnels and play areas, only moving quietly when it seems like he wants a better angle to check out the walls. He looks pretty focused either way, so maybe it wouldn't be hard to catch him by surprise here.
He spends the rest of his time in the library, browsing the shelves for books on anatomy and pathology. When he accumulates a decent-sized stack, he settles down at one of the reading tables with a notebook out, apparently ready to cram for the long haul. Approaching him later when he's stretching out his limbs might elicit a turn of the head and a wave as he speaks up with a smile:]
Hey. You interested in studying a little too?

she does notice that the resort is getting into the festive spirit of the holidays with mistletoe practically everywhere so she tries to get into it as well. it's probably inevitable that would run into someone under it either accidentally or on purpose as she looks between the plant and whoever she ran into] Oh— huh, I guess we ended up under some mistletoe. No matter the location (whether he's hanging there or heading there), he's not really doing much to acknowledge anyone - even those he's talked to quite a bit. He's spending a lot of time writing in that journal of his. Sometimes, he looks pretty serious about it, which could be seen as weird, for anyone remotely close with him.
Usually, he manages to seem bored.
In any case, it'll be one of those locations that he will be lifting his eyebrows at various people in -- well, actually, it won't be them he's looking at. It'll be the weird plant (read: mistletoe) that's above their head. ]

There’s mistletoe everywhere. It’s a minefield of romantic festive customs, and one that can’t be avoided without employing a stealth strategy.
So, for that reason, there is an odd cardboard box seen around most of the resort. You might find it stationary, inconspicuously placed, but when you turn your back, you can swear it moved...]
