WEEK 4

The weekend that just passed was....frankly, a lot. Yet despite all odds, you somehow pulled out a win from the jaws of utter defeat. As you wake up feeling tired but happy, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.

"Attention, Guests. This week, The game is temporarily suspended. This week, there will be no mafia kill. Take a break for your hard work."

And...indeed, it seems like this is a peace week. The Staff, after the disappearance of The Captain, are acting worse than they did last week - not only is there the blankness and the stuttering, but sometimes they even get orders wrong, with potentially hazardous results. Asking the Staff for things has become more dangerous and unreliable, but at least you meals are still good. Speaking of, The Chef has put a sign up on the door, reading "DO NOT TAKE KNIVES WITHOUT ASKING FIRST!! THAT MEANS YOU!!" written in big, angry letters. The resort also seems to be gearing up for Christmas - there are lights and trees scattered around the place, as well as mistletoe for couples to get their public displays of affection on. There's also some other holiday decorations around, for Kwanzaa and....something else you definitely have never seen before. The thing....wriggles, and you don't want to be around it for long.

The weather is still nothing, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Are you getting closer to the truth of this place, maybe? It's hard to say.

[People might notice in the wee early hours of the morning that there's a stack of... floating books rushing out from the library - better watch out that you don't accidentally bump into the person (ghost??) that's holding onto them as they seem to be heading down the stairs towards the restaurant.

If one pays real close attention to the spines of said pile, they might notice that there seems to be a theme here.

...Cats?

Hm.

If you don't manage to accidentally run into them, you might later instead find them in the restaurant proper with some curry, coffee, and a notepad right next to them, flipping through pages in what can almost be called a frantic manner.

[That actually gets this ghost to flinch to the point where the book they're reading gets dropped out of surprise!

Did you get any rest?

Forced myself to sleep, yeah. If I did what I did the first week we were here, it wouldn't help our current problem.

[ She has priorities. Let's just scoot the chair closer to lean into the ghost. ]

So you think the animal cafe and greenhouse would have any?

[There's a pause, as if there's a sudden realization, and then the messages stop coming from the tablet as the pen lifts up and writes something down something on her notepad, in automatically translated English:]

Maybe.

Also, from what I've read, cats dislike the smell of rue, lavender and pennyroyal, coleus canina and lemon thyme? And they steer clear of citrus scents. If we can somehow get ahold of some of those things, maybe we can force it to go straight to the soft room?

Maybe should make sure to coat everyone we want him to stay away from with it, too? Like lavender lotion?

[ Though now she's tempted to stick lavender on him normally to see if it'll do anything. Hmm ]

That might work. We can try that. I'm trying to get Kurusu, Arisato and Niijima involved in this. I don't want to get too many people involved because I don't want it to turn into a huge mess.

Is Makoto okay to help with this? She's still recovering from Barghest.

I... don't know if she will. Kurusu might get mad at me that I'm trying to get her involved, and I haven't even talked to him about it yet. But I won't force her if she doesn't want to. It's her decision to make, not mine.

But do you think that she'd help us?

[Well, Blue Angel definitely notices the floating books -- she's already at the library with a stack of medical books higher than her head and more-or-less freshened up for the day, though overall she just looks low-key stressed and keeps running a hand through her hair and making it curl.

Looks like someone is continuing their studies or planning for med school at this point.

She watches the floating books zoom by with raised eyebrows.]

... You're not going to tell me we're getting kittens next, right? I don't know if this place can take any more animals.

[The books pause and then they slowly lower onto the floor before she gets a ghost ping:]

I was talking to Granz-san about Cheshire cats yesterday, actually, so I'd feel bad if I cursed the Resort with Cheshire kittens.

[It is a little bit wry as she leans over to examine the books more closely.]
