WEEK 4 MINGLE

The weekend that just passed was....frankly, a lot. Yet despite all odds, you somehow pulled out a win from the jaws of utter defeat. As you wake up feeling tired but happy, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.
"Attention, Guests. This week, The game is temporarily suspended. This week, there will be no mafia kill. Take a break for your hard work."
And...indeed, it seems like this is a peace week. The Staff, after the disappearance of The Captain, are acting worse than they did last week - not only is there the blankness and the stuttering, but sometimes they even get orders wrong, with potentially hazardous results. Asking the Staff for things has become more dangerous and unreliable, but at least you meals are still good. Speaking of, The Chef has put a sign up on the door, reading "DO NOT TAKE KNIVES WITHOUT ASKING FIRST!! THAT MEANS YOU!!" written in big, angry letters. The resort also seems to be gearing up for Christmas - there are lights and trees scattered around the place, as well as mistletoe for couples to get their public displays of affection on. There's also some other holiday decorations around, for Kwanzaa and....something else you definitely have never seen before. The thing....wriggles, and you don't want to be around it for long.
The weather is still nothing, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.
On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Are you getting closer to the truth of this place, maybe? It's hard to say.

Later in the day though, he's more or less back to normal outside of some irregular breaths every now and then, and he seems to spend most of his afternoon in the lobby. He's quite still as he intently tracks the rats' movements through their tunnels and play areas, only moving quietly when it seems like he wants a better angle to check out the walls. He looks pretty focused either way, so maybe it wouldn't be hard to catch him by surprise here.
He spends the rest of his time in the library, browsing the shelves for books on anatomy and pathology. When he accumulates a decent-sized stack, he settles down at one of the reading tables with a notebook out, apparently ready to cram for the long haul. Approaching him later when he's stretching out his limbs might elicit a turn of the head and a wave as he speaks up with a smile:]
Hey. You interested in studying a little too?
lobby;
...This totally reminds him of when he seemed lost in thought about something before. Though, this time it wasn't happening in jacuzzi land... ]
...What're you doing? Just checking them out?
no subject
...Yeah, something like that. [...] I was interested in seeing if they moved in any kind of pattern or anything.
no subject
Why? What would them moving in a pattern tell you?
no subject
There's a pause before he answers, voice low.]
We know the Outsider's been using them to spy on us, right? So I figured... maybe it'd be worth seeing if they had places they liked to go or something.
no subject
Anyway, sure, he lowers his voice too. ]
...Were you able to see if there was somewhere they went that was strange so far?
no subject
But well, he looks a little contrite at the question.]
...No, not yet. They've just been running around all over the place, so I don't know if there's actually any rhyme or reason to their movements. It might be that he's not controlling them or just... seeing whatever comes by, I guess.

Anyway, tablet ping!]
I guess you can call it that.

What else would you call it, then?

Considering the situation, I assume you're not doing this purely for your own interest. Right?
no subject
You're right. I'm not.
no subject
He sighs.]
I'm not gonna force you to tell me if you don't want to, but if you need someone to listen or just to talk things out with, then I'll do everything I can to help.

She takes a considerate step back rather than trying to come any closer, but... hm. ]
Are you not feeling well?
no subject
N-No, I'm fine. Thanks for asking.
no subject
Unless it's low SP, I suppose.
no subject
But her words do cause him to release his vicegrip on the cup.]
Y-yeah. That makes sense. [He looks up curiously at the last part though.] Wait, what's SP?

... I'm afraid not. I have little need for studying, but I do admire your commitment to education.
no subject
Haha... I'm not sure I would say it's about education, to be honest. I'm just hoping there might be some hints here about how to deal with the resort's illness.

[she heads over and pulls up a chair.]
I've never been much of a studying person back home, but... I'm definitely pretty behind here.
no subject
Haha... I can sympathize with that. It can be pretty tough to buckle down and get through everything sometimes. What did you usually study at home?
