WEEK 4 MINGLE

The weekend that just passed was....frankly, a lot. Yet despite all odds, you somehow pulled out a win from the jaws of utter defeat. As you wake up feeling tired but happy, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.
"Attention, Guests. This week, The game is temporarily suspended. This week, there will be no mafia kill. Take a break for your hard work."
And...indeed, it seems like this is a peace week. The Staff, after the disappearance of The Captain, are acting worse than they did last week - not only is there the blankness and the stuttering, but sometimes they even get orders wrong, with potentially hazardous results. Asking the Staff for things has become more dangerous and unreliable, but at least you meals are still good. Speaking of, The Chef has put a sign up on the door, reading "DO NOT TAKE KNIVES WITHOUT ASKING FIRST!! THAT MEANS YOU!!" written in big, angry letters. The resort also seems to be gearing up for Christmas - there are lights and trees scattered around the place, as well as mistletoe for couples to get their public displays of affection on. There's also some other holiday decorations around, for Kwanzaa and....something else you definitely have never seen before. The thing....wriggles, and you don't want to be around it for long.
The weather is still nothing, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.
On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Are you getting closer to the truth of this place, maybe? It's hard to say.

No matter the location (whether he's hanging there or heading there), he's not really doing much to acknowledge anyone - even those he's talked to quite a bit. He's spending a lot of time writing in that journal of his. Sometimes, he looks pretty serious about it, which could be seen as weird, for anyone remotely close with him.
Usually, he manages to seem bored.
In any case, it'll be one of those locations that he will be lifting his eyebrows at various people in -- well, actually, it won't be them he's looking at. It'll be the weird plant (read: mistletoe) that's above their head. ]
weird plant
[ Already preparing to give him a hug when she sees him looking at that plant. ]
Do you know what that is?
no subject
Uhhh... No?
[ Ignore the hint of color on his cheeks and he'll be fine. ]
no subject
It's a tradition. You're supposed to do this under it.
[ If he doesn't move, she'll give him a quick peck against his cheek. ]
no subject
Congrats, he's stunned silent and kind of red! ]
Why such a ridiculous tradition? Humans are... weird, honestly.
no subject
Hehe. Right? I just found out about it today!
[ So she's sharing ]
no subject
Yet, you sound so happy about it...
[ Suddenly, his voice goes a little quieter. ]
Is it just because you don't like being alone...?

journal and weird plant;
Though if it's likely his approach doesn't land the glance, and instead the mistletoe, he'll ask: ]
Vanitas? What're you looking at?
no subject
Hm?
[ ... back to the mistletoe...
... ... ... back to Roxas. ]
Nothing.
[ He gives a knowing smirk. ]
no subject
...You're giving that look like you know so it can't be nothing. So, you might as well spit out already, okay?
[ Anyway he's just doing his usual pouting but he's determined to figure out what it is and also, what is going on with the journal again... ]
no subject
All right, all right...
[ Not that he fought that hard??? At this point, however, he's kind of curious to see how Roxas would react. Even if there's the hint of color appearing on his own cheeks. Even as he tries to act nonchalant. ]
It's just some plant that has this stupid tradition, apparently. According to it, if two people wind up underneath mistletoe, they're supposed to kiss.

[ Roxas noticed the tucking of the journal, but he decides he can try asking about that a little later. Even if he's a teensy bit worried, all in all he had something to focus on for the moment, and then he's looking at Vanitas with kind of a small smile, feeling his cheeks heat up a little too. ]
Do you want to give it a try and follow tradition?
[ Asked in an innocent-sounding way of course. But he really wanted to give it a try with him, but also see if he could embarrass him a little. ]

In any case, the blond manages to have Vanitas blinking softly, looking like he's torn between two different responses... for a moment? The moment passes a little quickly. He narrows his eyes, a challenging smirk creeping onto his lips as he closes the space. If he's having any regrets at this point, like hell he's showing it. In fact...?
There's only a pause as he takes Roxas' chin. Then he boldly presses a kiss to Roxas' lips. ]

Which means he'll just show up behind him in the restaurant trying to catch a glance of what's written, sorry. ]
You working on a novel, or what?
no subject
Either way, Vanitas is closing the thing quickly. ]
Something like that.
[ He glances up at Kohaku, eyebrows lifted. ]
Working on your stealth?
weird plant and journal
Is there something on your mind today, Vanitas-kun?
no subject
Oh... hey.
[ Guess who hasn't noticed the mistletoe, just yet. ]
Not really. Just taking some notes.
no subject
[She's in the same boat it looks like. Wonder who will notice first.]
I can't say I'm not curious.
no subject
Are you?
[ It's. Almost playful! He taps pen against the journal, shrugging a shoulder. ]
Well, if we both get out of here alive, maybe I'll let you read it.
no subject
Well, I can’t turn down that kind of motivation. When else would I get an offer like that from you? It almost makes me feel plain special.
[There is a teasing tone to her voice during the last part. Admittedly, there is some truth to it, as she is aware that he doesn’t like people snooping into his business.]

plant journal trap
All the same, she'll approach on sight. Curiosity about someone she knows overcomes caution for the split second it takes for plant shenanigans to happen. Then she just looks up and-- oh.]
Oh. I was doing so good, too.
[She sounds a little put out about this.]
no subject
They're going a little overboard with them. Not sure why they're so desperate to get people around here to kiss.
[ He shrugs. ]
Not like anyone has to do anything, though. Right?
no subject
[It's kind of wry, kind of mildly irritated, but compared to their little game of mafia a jungle's worth of mistletoe is almost entirely harmless in comparison. Maybe, like the cookie monster, this is what's actually supposed to be hanging out in the Resort. It's a very maybe.
She's still giving the plant the side-eye, though. Not sure how she feels about being food, even non-negative feelings food.]
I never really cared that much about the tradition, anyway. There are better ones for this holiday.
[As long as the Resort itself doesn't enforce anything, she just has to avoid the people who do care about tradition.]
no subject
And then he's side-eying the plant with her. ]
So, you think it feeds on emotions, maybe...?
no subject
She'll try, though! She'll answer seriously.]
I'm actually pretty sure of it. Troit-san and I talked to the cookie gojira on the second floor, earlier. [she kind of has to stop for a moment to shake her head, because she can keep an almost-straight face about mistletoe but add a googly-eyed cookie monster to that and her tone is just faintly dry now] The Resort takes emotions and energy as payment. The good ones. Not all of them, I think... but we don't really have that much to spare in the first place.
[It is actually kind of irritating. Even if it is how the Resort would normally operate, everything is all messed up now.]
