Week 2 Mingle

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.
The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.
On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.
Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

Armed and ready to protect themselves? We've got kids here with no combat experience. Are you gonna teach them?

I think you should leave it to the professionals, kid.

I can teach them the basics, at the very least. Why, did you have a better suggestion?

[He understands the reasoning - if one of those things attacks, its better than having nothing, but...]
Giving someone a gun isn't going to protect them. It's hard to pull the trigger - especially on someone you know. A moment's hesitation is all it takes to get killed. You're not giving them protection, you're giving them a false confidence, thinking they can stay and fight instead of seeking safety.
[It's a different armament than Ripley's meaning, perhaps - he's not sure this place will give them guns - but it's a close enough comparison. There's a resentment in his tone, suggesting the issue might be something more personal.]

Having a weapon is better than nothing, but she doesn't want to be the one responsible for the demise of others.]
I wasn't suggesting guns, but you make a good point regardless. [Another pause as she mulls this over.] If you have another suggestion, I'd be glad to hear it.
[She thinks maybe a buddy system thing might work, but...not everyone will be pleased with that. So she's open to other suggestions.]

We should tell them what to do in that kind of situation. How to get away - only to fight if there's no other option.
[It feels like such a weak answer, the floundering attempt of a man who doesn't have the solutions, who can't protect them better.]

I can help with training people, I have experience with that.

Still, Cynthia's comment gets a raised eyebrow.]
Not against people, huh? What were they?
no subject
...I mean, I did fight real people eventually, but there was a tactician helping us out and my big sis Lucina was there. And even then, it was easier with Risen.

... I have my whip, and I know how to use it, but it wasn't really meant for combat.
[She fights with cards, y'all.]
I don't know if we can run or stick together forever.
no subject
[He shakes his head- actually, he doesn't care.]
I'm not telling anyone to run forever. [He's not sure they should really stick together, but turning on each other seems likely to end in even more casualty.] I just don't think making kids think they're ready for combat they can't handle is the best solution.
no subject
[It stops her and other people from falling off like, high places and D-boards and shit. Honestly the show never explains why she's the only avatar with a weapon aside from the guy who literally shoots people to delete them so who even knows here.]
Still, I think there are ways to defend ourselves other than combat and hiding, right? Smoke bombs or something.

And as for me, I wouldn't be able to teach, but... I could probably help with practice.
no subject
[Putting that out there, in case he might have some input there.]
You can't teach, but you can help, huh? How?
no subject
Actually, yeah. I doubt everyone would be up for learning how to fight, so it'd be a good option for them. [His eyes may be sliding over to Yoshi a little.]
I might not be qualified to teach, but I can still spar with anyone who needs it. We've done plenty of combat exercises both in and out of class too, so it wouldn't be anything new to me.
