MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

[ Wow Vanitas. ]

You can always think we're just traveling in the same direction.

[ Does that help? Aiming his stick at the forest. ]

Let's go. Quicker we get this over with, the quicker you can be rid of us, right?

[ There's a smirk. ]

Going it alone is what I'm used to.

[ But, he just waves a hand. ]

Just don't get in my way.

[ With that, he's heading in, a gardening tool of his own in his hand. ]

[The forest is lovely, dark and deep.

But if you're going in, there's nothing immediately wrong. It's just....dark. and dense. The normal sounds of birds in the trees and wind rustling through the leaves and grass.

There's also not a path, so I hope you guys are clearing the way ahead of you. You know - just in case.]

[ Fantastic...

Riku has a shovel so he probably at the very least uproot stuff even if it's a little messy but it's better nothing, and he's going to be doing that from time to time. He's not one for talking much still, so he has nothing to say at the time, continuing to move forward. ]

[ Wow... ]

I think this is more than a little darkness.

[ But his voice sounds steady as he pokes around with his stick. ]

[ So, the main reason he's going ahead of them? The really long and sharp thing in his hand. He's using that to clear the way as he pushes forward. He's not going to be going super quickly, at least...

And he's quiet as he closely watches their surroundings. ]

[For now, there seems to be nothing in the forest, though from the way you're going, you can clearly see a bit of the sea through the gaps in the trees.

It looks like it'll be a long walk, however.

...Continue?]

It's not as bad as it could be.

[ Well, they've been going on this journey for only a little while now. It's too early to stop, so continue he will. ]

[ He'll note the ocean. Thank you ocean for being there to make it less bleak and shit. Or bleat? ]

Yeah, I mean I wouldn't really call it nice, but I was expecting monsters or something to show up.

[ Yep, he'll be continuing on, murdering all the plants that dare to stand in his way. Take that, nature.

Also, he's muttering as he slices through a vine or flower or something: ]

If I had my powers, I'd gladly change that for you.

[Guys please, why do you do this. More interestingly, as they continue their path of plant destruction, to the west there seems almost a glimmer of...something.

Hard to tell what, as they're still quite a ways off from it.]

[ Wow, that sure is a glimmer of something...time to move towards it, right? ]

Then it's a good thing that you don't.

[ Behave yourself, Vanitas. ]

Looks like there's something up ahead, be on your guard.

That's right, you're all cute and fuzzy under there. Right?

He'll follow after Riku to whatever over there is sparkling. ]

I see it, too. Maybe it'll be a trophy for walking all of this way?

[ He might be "ignoring" Riku and heading right over to whatever is sparkling. His guard is definitely up, regardless of how he's very nonchalant...

There's a faaaaint glare getting tossed over to Jack, however, because!! He'll show you fuzzy and cute!!!

... As he slices through plants with a frown stuck to his face now. ]

[The sparkles...

No, wait.

Sparkles aren't the right word for what they're seeing.

As they walk, they definitely see...something. But this...isn't anything that could be called normal.

They see...A mansion. One that looks identical to the one they've been staying at, but -

It's flickering, on and off, like a candle in the wind, just about to go out.]

[ That's strange.

Riku kind of wonders if it'll be possible to get in with it flickering off and on. ]

If you can call that a trophy.

[ Surely there's also an entrance that they can walk into like the other mansion, right? ]

[ He'll just pick up a rock and throw it at the flickering mansion first cause WHAT THE HELL. ]

[ Watches the rock go flying. . . ]

I'd say we haven't exactly done anything to earn a trophy.

[ . . .

. . . and then he's frowning because he just realized he used "we" and that feels weird.

ANYWAY. Just going to head around to the side to get a better look at the mansion. ]

[The rock sails right through. Odd!

There is, of course, still an entrance - and if Riku wants to try opening the doors, he'll find they open easily at his touch, despite them literally glitching in and out of existence.

As for the view, it does look exactly the same - though the garden is in the back instead of the front, like the one they're used to, and it also flickers wildly.

The inside blinks, but it seems that all of you can go right on in...]

[ Now, Riku is still used to going forward in danger situations, so he's not too apprehensive about going right in, so guess what? He walks straight into the mansion after opening the doors without a hint of hesitation or fear.

He's at least on high alert, however, taking a look around on the inside as soon as he does enter. ]

[ He'll follow after Riku, raising his stick up much like he would his sword. Yolo-ish? ]

Hey, feel any different?

[ Welp, now that the idiots are just waltzing into the place, he's gonna just head off.

Okay, in all seriousness, he's following after Jack. He isn't going to head far in, though. He will, instead, rest the machete on his shoulder and look around. ]

[There's nothing that makes any of them feel weird - despite the fact that the mansion is blinking in and out of existance around them, the floor feels solid. To borrow an example from the type of canon all of these characters are involved in, it's like some textures got majorly fucked up somewhere, but the underlying model is solid.

The mansion is, honestly, pretty boring - it's mostly devoid of all life. Though as they go through the halls, they all suddenly sense two beings in two different rooms, the rooms rather close to each other with one on the left and one on the right.

Do they want to try entering one of them?]

No, I feel fine. I'm not entirely sure what's going on here, but...that seems about par for the course while we've been here.

[ ... ]

...Let's take the one on the right first.

[ Riku will be going for the one on the right straight after. He's decisive; this hasn't changed even now. The more they figure out about their situation, the better. ]

[ Looking back at Vanitas and then just following after Riku again. Can't leave him on his own, after all. ]

Oh boy. Hopefully they are in a mood for surprise guests.

[ Surprise, non-flickering guests? ]
