MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

[ That's strange.

Riku kind of wonders if it'll be possible to get in with it flickering off and on. ]

If you can call that a trophy.

[ Surely there's also an entrance that they can walk into like the other mansion, right? ]

[ He'll just pick up a rock and throw it at the flickering mansion first cause WHAT THE HELL. ]

[ Watches the rock go flying. . . ]

I'd say we haven't exactly done anything to earn a trophy.

[ . . .

. . . and then he's frowning because he just realized he used "we" and that feels weird.

ANYWAY. Just going to head around to the side to get a better look at the mansion. ]

[The rock sails right through. Odd!

There is, of course, still an entrance - and if Riku wants to try opening the doors, he'll find they open easily at his touch, despite them literally glitching in and out of existence.

As for the view, it does look exactly the same - though the garden is in the back instead of the front, like the one they're used to, and it also flickers wildly.

The inside blinks, but it seems that all of you can go right on in...]

[ Now, Riku is still used to going forward in danger situations, so he's not too apprehensive about going right in, so guess what? He walks straight into the mansion after opening the doors without a hint of hesitation or fear.

He's at least on high alert, however, taking a look around on the inside as soon as he does enter. ]

[ He'll follow after Riku, raising his stick up much like he would his sword. Yolo-ish? ]

Hey, feel any different?

[ Welp, now that the idiots are just waltzing into the place, he's gonna just head off.

Okay, in all seriousness, he's following after Jack. He isn't going to head far in, though. He will, instead, rest the machete on his shoulder and look around. ]

[There's nothing that makes any of them feel weird - despite the fact that the mansion is blinking in and out of existance around them, the floor feels solid. To borrow an example from the type of canon all of these characters are involved in, it's like some textures got majorly fucked up somewhere, but the underlying model is solid.

The mansion is, honestly, pretty boring - it's mostly devoid of all life. Though as they go through the halls, they all suddenly sense two beings in two different rooms, the rooms rather close to each other with one on the left and one on the right.

Do they want to try entering one of them?]

No, I feel fine. I'm not entirely sure what's going on here, but...that seems about par for the course while we've been here.

[ ... ]

...Let's take the one on the right first.

[ Riku will be going for the one on the right straight after. He's decisive; this hasn't changed even now. The more they figure out about their situation, the better. ]

[ Looking back at Vanitas and then just following after Riku again. Can't leave him on his own, after all. ]

Oh boy. Hopefully they are in a mood for surprise guests.

[ Surprise, non-flickering guests? ]

[ Sighing and then shrugging. ]

Only one way to find out. Though, with all the talking, I'm pretty sure they'd have to be deaf not to know we're here already...

[ But, in they go??? ]

[The room they enter looks like a guest room...but there's a black figure - no, a silhouette on the wall, like a shadow of someone not there - pacing around, staring into what looks like a crystal ball. The figure seems not to have noticed the three of them entering, what with being so focused on the ball - which, if all of them squint, seems to show....the other mansion, with the 'camera' currently following Takashi around.

The figure pauses in their pacing to run their hand across the ball, which spins and shows Silver instead, who....dabs with the goats in the library.

This makes the figure sink into a nearby chair and put their head in their hands.]

[ That's...interesting, it looks like they've been spied on their entire stay here, but he can't exactly say he's surprised. He mutters to himself: ]

One of the witches?

[ Then, Riku watches the figure quietly for a moment. But, he has questions so he doesn't keep it quiet for long. ]

Hey, do you got a moment? I've got some questions I'd like to ask you.

[ Whoa Riku. Just going to put a hand on him in case he needs to pull his ass back away from the figure. ]

Hello. We uh. Don't mean any harm. Just passing through trying to see what's out here.

[ Please don't notice that two of the three have sharp implements. ]

[ JUST WATCHING AND LISTENING FOR NOW... He's hanging back in the doorway, gaze occasionally shifting to the other room it felt like someone or something was in. ]

[The figure jerks at hearing that, twirling around out of their seat to look at the three of them. There's only a moment's pause before the figure appears to scream, though none of them can hear it - and lashes their arms out in what appear to be punches...though their limbs seem rather skinny.

The punches, well....you don't feel anything when you're punched by a shadow on the wall, right?]

[ They don't feel anything yet. What if this is some kind of creeping shadow thing where it'll haunt you later on. He is yanking Riku back, and bringing up his swordstick up to try to defend against the shadow blows.

Does he even feel any of it hitting his stick? ]

Whoa. Sorry. We'll just be on our way. No need to get all punchy on us?

[ Can they back up to the door? ]

[enter_the_darkness]

[ . . . huh.

Interesting.

Annnnnd since he never left the doorway, he's just going to casually step back into the hallway, one hand sliding into a pocket as he waits to see if the other two can get out of there.

Good luck... or something. ]

[ THANKS Vanitas, you're a pal.

Riku on the other hand is not deterred in the slightest when it screams silently, though luckily Jack is there to yank him back before he considers fisticuffs as a viable option.

...Not that he was going to, but still. ]

We should probably just go.

[ Time to back up now to the door... ]

Yeah, someone is way ahead of you.

[ People who are named VANITAS. Jack keeps his stick raised, and puts himself between Riku and the shadow while they head baaaaack to the door. ]

[ Why you gotta yell his name like that.

Also, he's going to just be walking over to stick his ear to that other door while he's out here.

Not going in yet, since the other two of the Three Stooges aren't currently out here. ]

[Well, after that punch, the figure stops...and stares for a moment.

Then goes back to the ball, and makes it so it's from...jack's viewpoint.

The figure stares at the ball, then slaps a hand over their face. After a moment, they grab a broom from the corner - and much like an angry mother, proceed to help them out by shooing them out with a broom that looks like it's floating in mid-air to them, but clearly held by the figure on the shadow on the wall.

You can almost hear the 'and STAY out!' as the door closes behind them, and locks with a loud click.]

[ Okay, that sure is a thing that happened, and here he was just calmly trying to initiate a conversation. Riku is not surprised, though, considering his luck with these sorts of things. ]

That went well.

[ Time to head over to Vanitas now, to see what he's doing with the other door. ]

...Might as well just open up.

[helmdivide]

[ Okay. For it looks like the person doesn't even get how they look from his point of view or something? Huh? Lowering his stick and then they are rebroomed from the room. ]

Whoa. Rude. What do you think that was about?

[ He does seem to relax a bit, but also just... going to look at Vanitas and Riku. He only has one hand if he needs to yank someone back. ]

Maybe let's skip on asking any questions this time.
