WEEK 4

The weekend that just passed was....frankly, a lot. Yet despite all odds, you somehow pulled out a win from the jaws of utter defeat. As you wake up feeling tired but happy, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.

"Attention, Guests. This week, The game is temporarily suspended. This week, there will be no mafia kill. Take a break for your hard work."

And...indeed, it seems like this is a peace week. The Staff, after the disappearance of The Captain, are acting worse than they did last week - not only is there the blankness and the stuttering, but sometimes they even get orders wrong, with potentially hazardous results. Asking the Staff for things has become more dangerous and unreliable, but at least you meals are still good. Speaking of, The Chef has put a sign up on the door, reading "DO NOT TAKE KNIVES WITHOUT ASKING FIRST!! THAT MEANS YOU!!" written in big, angry letters. The resort also seems to be gearing up for Christmas - there are lights and trees scattered around the place, as well as mistletoe for couples to get their public displays of affection on. There's also some other holiday decorations around, for Kwanzaa and....something else you definitely have never seen before. The thing....wriggles, and you don't want to be around it for long.

The weather is still nothing, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Are you getting closer to the truth of this place, maybe? It's hard to say.

Well, he lost his hat - since he got permission from the Lady to not get targeted?? - and got a nasty arm wound and some other cuts and bruises? I think he's fine now, but it was a lot of yikes.

So I guess there was another way to get in, but I'm pretty sure the Lady doesn't really listen to us.

[Except that one time she listened to Akira and all hell broke loose at least six times, but still.]

I'm glad he didn't get attacked, but why was he also in there?

The reason why was mostly so that you dumbasses don't get yourselves killed after getting yourselves killed.

Case in point: the idiot that had to get yeeted out because he got killed.

[She knows she knows that and yet... it still feels like she's making excuses. She sits quietly for a long moment, expression a little twisted and unhappy.]

Couldn't there have been something better than the vents?

There probably was, but we didn't know that at the time. We... did try to find more information. I think we'll have to go back to the guests on the second floor.

[They actually... still do need to share that information more widely, unless Ellie's direct line to Szayel has reached all the ghosts by now. That being said, she's a little scattered because this has been the week of being Tired and Stressed As Hell in Aoiland.]

I heard about the "positive emotion feeding".

Maybe that's why there's mistletoe everywhere. Hey, did you know that Szayel said that everyone could continue your "canoodling" because of it?

[So yes, it seems that she's heard.]

I guess it helps the Resort? I don't know if there's been that much canoodling, though.

[Or she just missed the majority of it because she was hitting the books or the canoodling was between ghosts. Or she was avoiding mistletoe as best she could. (Spoilers: Only kind of succeeded.)]

Some of it's probably being done in private now that... we know the Outsider is watching us like prime time television.

Or some people don't care.

[She's less worried about being caught canoodling or whatever, honestly. There's a part of her that may still be a little too Aoi for canoodling to come up as much of a possibility. She has enough trouble relating to people without jamming romance into the equation.]

That was the Staff spying on people for me. The Outsider is a lot worse, since he knows context. I'm going to have to ban the rata from my room if I want to get any sort of privacy now.

Do you think if you ban the rats from a part of the Resort, it's like making them sleep on the couch?

Maybe they're the ones that need to go to the child daycare room.

Can you ever actually be sure you have all the rats, though? It's been a while since I've really approached them, but I haven't been able to count them all.

[Since they're some kind of multi-planar swarm entity maybe they're infinity like the Resort...... Honestly trying to conceptualize this is giving her a headache but it's a different headache from the people-are-dying headache that was just happening so you know what.]

I do wonder if there's a way to really talk to them, though. They probably know more about this Resort than anybody.

Find somebody that speaks rat? Are there dictionaries on that?
