Week 7: Fast Forward to 2020

It is done.

The last tape has played. All of the information that can be found from them has been discovered. They are free to re-watch the tapes, but nothing new can be found there.

The barrier will fail next Saturday. This is unavoidable. The barrier set by Tages will finally fall, and the curse will be free once more.

The only question is, what will those left alive in 2020 do to prepare?

[ For anyone feeling brave Gilgamesh could be found around the hotel towards the earlier part of the day, whether that be leaning against a wall, or looking disdainfully at notes somewhere.

Towards the latter half of the day, that'll include outside as well, lounging around and such, a golden square-like artifact or something hanging almost carelessly from his fingers. His gaze was held towards the afternoon sky, though.

Later than that, he won't be found anywhere, electing to do as he pleased as he always did, except not in the presence of the other agents. ]

[ Walking past him and pausing. ] Oh hey, you're the guy, right? Graham Cracker or something like that?

and so he encounters dumbass#2

[ It almost seemed like he wouldn't acknowledge him for a moment, but against his better judgment, he did. ]

...Hm? I see you're simply another foolish mongrel who believes themselves to be amusing, when you're clearly anything but.

[ He's aware of the existence of graham crackers. Naturally, he's tried them at least once and found them sorely lacking. ]

You should know my name by now and I expect you to speak it properly.

[linearcrash]

[ Scratching his head for a moment or two. ] Uh... Yeah. Of course I know what it is! It's Gil. Gril... Ah! Grilled Mushrooms, right? [ Did he do good? ]

[sageking]

No, you imbecile. My name is King Gilgamesh of Uruk, the great and legendary King of Heroes himself!

[ Granted his name was a mouthfull, but Grilled Mushrooms? Ridiculous... ]

You would do well to remember that properly. I won't be so gracious to repeat myself again. As it is you test my patience with what sounds like mockery.

[Hi Gil. Sissel (now in adult but still cat form ) pads over and sits next to him, stretching before curling up like he intends to nap]

[sageking]

[ Aw, Sissel. Gilgamesh will uh...set aside what he's holding for a second and see if the cat still wanted some pets on the way to his naptime.

...Look, he was bad at showing he missed anyone and would never say it, but. Yeah. ]

[ghostricked]

[He totally wants pets, and his body rumbles when touched]

You seem pensive, Your Majesty.

[sageking]

I won't deny your assertion.

Of course, I believe it's obvious we'll emerge victorious in the second clash against this enemy of ours. However, whatever happens before then and after will need some careful consideration.

[ He already had prepared himself for the familiar faces he'll see on the enemy's side. If anything, he still didn't know how his 'talk' will go with Solomon, beyond yelling. Nooot that it bothered him, of course.

And then there were things beyond that he had to think of. With his memories back, some old habits died hard. ]

[ Hey so her plan to actively avoid Gil has been going pretty well, she'd say, despite the close quarters. Except this time she's looking at her phone as she heads down the hall. So she doesn't notice Señor Goldie lounging against a wall until she's within talking distance. ]

[sageking]

[ Oh, what timing. Must have been fate, right? ]

You there. I believe it's about time we have a little chat.

[respring]

[ Ah, fuck. She was playing Pocket Camp, so the chirps of Animal Crossing music can be heard for a few awkward seconds before she presses the button to put her phone in sleep mode. ]

What, um...what would you like to chat about?

[ She's remembering that night on the street before the war really started, when she saw Rin watching her talk to him on the hill, and she went home and felt sick for the rest of the night. Funny, all of her memories of Gilgamesh put a sense of primal fright into her. ]

What do you think?

[ He had ideas of why she had screamed and all that, but there were many universes/timelines/realities/etc in which he's been uh. An issue.

And saw her whispering with Syaoran...technically he could've demanded the words be said aloud, but he'd prefer to do it this way. ]

You appear to have some major issue with me. What is it?

[ They're about to go on a mission together. Time to clear the air, and nip a potential problem in the bud. ]

[Yeah Mitsuru wasn't around for people trying to check out Gil's magic, so... seeing Gil lounging around outside with his artifact, he tilts his staff ever so slightly in Gil's direction to see his stats and proficiency in weaponry.

He does have the sense to like, try to keep his magic to a trickle so it isn't as noticeable, but that's something he learned from Archer. So.]

[ ...

Well, Mitsuru will seemingly have smooth sailing? It's hard to quantify Gilgamesh's stats in layman's terms, but there was pretty high attack power for one. And his magic stats were...uh, wait—

The other would suddenly slam into a wall with his magic checker, and the wall would seem to slam him right back out too.

Gilgamesh took his time approaching Mitsuru, but here he was soon enough. ]

You're lucky I even deigned to allow you to see that much, boy.

I'll give the same warning I gave to the last who tried, and also question your reason for trying to look upon me in such an insolent manner.

[Fricken Fates. He does look up as Gilgamesh approaches, before lowering his head in deference.]

Please forgive me, your majesty. I was elsewhere while the videos were being reviewed, so my knowledge of what powers, exactly, are at our disposal for this mission is lacking. It seemed most efficient to use my own powers to quickly scan through what we have available, but... I should have known better than to try it on someone who so thoroughly outclasses my own power.

[sageking]

...Very well, you are forgiven.

[ It was more of a suitable apology than he expected.

Well, he supposed simply telling the child some of what he could do was acceptable as he will doubtlessly be witness to it anyway. ]

You've seen a glimpse of some of my capability. Though it is hardly an indication of all my skill.

I'm easily able to overwhelm those who dare to challenge me with an unforgivable assault of various weaponry, with various effects. As you might imagine, this will prove useful against the enemy we face, as obviously I have ones that would be suited in terms of being effective against it. You weren't able to see much of it, but I'm able to use magic as well.

[ At some point in the afternoon, Saphir ends up outside as well. Even for a sizable hotel, it still feels stiflingly crowded sometimes, especially when Sissel is the only one there he comes close to feeling comfortable around.

Gilgamesh definitely does not come close, or at least not this version, and Saphir isn't at all thrilled to see him out here. But it's also going to be incredibly obvious if he just immediately turns around and goes back inside, so... he'll just... pretend to be very interested in the architecture of this doorway for a while. ]

[sageking]

[ Oh Saphir.

Eventually, Gilgamesh will notice the other's presence nonetheless, even if he was trying to be sly about himself hanging around. So he'll turn his head to the other from where he was sitting. ]

How long are you going to simply stand there staring at the door like some vacant automaton? You must know there are far better ways to spend your time.

I-I was thinking about the walls and rooms in the house, actually!!

[ He wasn't. ]

Anyway, I've been working on things all day, I wanted some fresh air.

[sageking]

Hmm?

[ Judging by the amused sound coming from Gilgamesh's direction, he seemed to find the words in that first sentence sounding more or less like more of an excuse. ]

... If you wanted to have the rare opportunity to simply pass conversation, all you needed to do was say as much; I'm feeling generous to make an allowance for it. You should also tell me how your preparations have been going while we're at it.

[ Boa's missed the most part of the video tape watching for this round because his big brother eloped and sometimes those things are more important than people you'd assumed to have died two decades earlier.... but he's at least had the others brief him on what all has been going on.

And now there's two survivors from the House here and everything is a whole lot less abstract. Hm.

Reason enough to approach Gilgamesh. ]

You were close to him. Tages. I mean, Solomon. What do you think of him now?

[ Since his existence is kind of important for them all. ]

[sageking]

I believe he is a fool who has proven himself wholly incompetent in his leadership of this organization due to having a part in providing incomplete information at times and unable to provide adequate training for a situation such as the one we faced. Knowing his identity well enough, he could've proven to be a great asset if he acted immediately, and brought us together so that we may make a quick exit, and then make our next plan from a safer location.

I don't need to go into painstaking detail any further regarding how I felt about his stupid idea of hiding in plain sight.

[ It's as succinct as he could be without getting personal, though there's more he could say, he's leaving that for when he faced Solomon himself upon their victory. But you know, it's obvious he didn't have a high opinion of the man right now. ]

[ All of that is reasonable enough. Boa finds himself nodding along. If he was in Gilgamesh's position, he is sure he would be similarly pissed off right now, even without the whole... all of it. ]

So you'd oppose reinstating him as O5, if we did save him.

[sageking]

...Doing that would be a waste of time, since that'd mean someone else would have to take his place, and this sordid organization will be choosing who will refill that position rather soon.

As incompetent as that sovereign is, I cannot allow even the slightest chance of that bastardization of a clown to succeed into his position. And waiting for that woman is not an option.

Assuming this organization even lasts long enough to even complete the process, but I've made my point regardless.

[ He supposed he could suggest himself? But Gilgamesh in this form technically was still a tyrant; as capable as he was, he knew the Foundation wouldn't accept it. And he was pretty much fucking rude to higher-ups during his time when he wasn't a Servant and still actually part of the Foundation. He won't mention this, but also uh...may have...exploded a place pretty badly in the facility that one time on purpose when he first arrived?

Y-Yeah...nope. ]

Maybe at the very least he could be assigned a minder.
