WEEK 2 INVESTIGATION

Two weeks had gone by, and Friday had once again come.

As always, they woke up, knowing one of their number was now gone...
It was just a matter of finding their body, now.
No matter what the killer had done to it...a killer that was one of them.🗈

They would have to do that trial again...and would they get the killer right, this time? Or would they condemn another innocent person to die yet again?

...No matter how they felt, they had to search, had to find things that they didn't want to see, dodging the shadow of death.

That...was how this game was played, after all...

...But why...did it feel especially foreboding today...?

[There's nothing to help.

Ruler still sits in his chair as Erhard comes in, but it's soon clear why it smells so intensely of blood.

There's blood all over, some even on Ruler himself. But more than that, there is a body lying face down on the floor, near the bed...

...Despite everything, it's easy to tell who it is.

Watanuki Kimihiro is dead.]

[Watanuki can't be dead, he just had a birthday, he's just a kid, Erhard was supposed to keep everyone safe....

Heedless of the blood, Erhard drops to his knees and carefully rolls the poor boy onto his back, ready to do CPR despite the obvious signs of it being too late.]

[Since Erhard has the one body well in hand and there is no room-wide blood pool and nobody has stepped on Watanuki's head!!

Anon is just going to head on over to Ruler, leaning down to inspect him and his bloody self.]

Do you think this guy is dead, too?

[He starts at the touch, eyes wide in confusion, as he goes to put his right hand to his head, but before it made contact, he jerks his hand away in confusion, his nose crinkling.

Slowly, he glances around the room, confusion dropping into shocked horror]

...What on...?

Wow, you’re a real heavy sleeper today! We knocked on the window for a while and you didn’t even twitch!

Anyway, hold still!

[And he’s just going to examine him before he totally gets his bearings. :D Patdown for injuries, weapons and other weird things go!]

[He will find ruler is fine...except that there's gunpowder residue on his dominant hand.

...Actually, Anon will also notice A glock next to Ruler on the desk.]

[He trails off, his brows knitting as he took in the details, his breath catching in his throat, eyes wide]

I mean, we all passed out, but you definitely extra passed out. And I bet you know what this looks like, don’t you?

[There’s an amused gleam in Anon’s eye. He’s going to examine the Glock and if it seems all right, he’ll straight up pocket it for now. Ruler doesn’t get the gun back, friends.]

I suggest you stay at the desk. I’m pretty sure you want to be behind me if Syaoran shows up.

[The glock is fine, But the clip inside of it has two bullets left.]

[Well, while we’re in this pocket of semi-peaceful time and space before Hurricane Syaoran descends, what does the rest of the room look like? Is Watanuki the only blood pool? Any bullet holes? Anything else weird?]

[ HEY GUESS WHAT there's loud knocking right here. loud angry knocking ] Open the door right now!

Sorry, Syaoran! I’ll get the door in a second. There’s some evidence we have to get out of the way first.

Oh! You can also try the window, if you want.

[That sure is open still.]

[ He's not waiting. He's going to run out the front door and go in through the window. It'll take him some time, sure, but he's doing it. There's no way he's simply just going to stand around when he heard that Kimihiro is dead. ]

[He was still waking up, processing, not thinking of the consequences but knowing some things do not need to be seen]

Don't! You don't need to see this!

[Ruler staggers out of his seat, stumbling before trying to get up]

[Kurama was already outside anyway, at least? So he'll try to intercept the Syaoran guided missile.]

He's right. You were close to Watanuki, weren't you? It's best you don't...

[Anon’s just going to reach out to push Ruler’s unsteady ass back into his seat.

He’s pretty strong, and also patiently facing the window now.]

No! I have to see him. It's Kimihiro-- it's the person that is the closest to me! Knowing that he's dead is like knowing that I'm dead! I should... I should have been the one to take his place!

[Oh, he's long dead, Erhard. Rigor Mortis is in effect, just like it was for Erika.

Not only that, it's clear to see that he's been shot multiple times. Especially in the chest - there are four clear bullet exit holes there, along with one in his left foot, and the one in the back of his head.]

[Erhard sits back on his heels, staring blankly at the carnage. He can't think, why would someone... oh god, Syaoran can't see this.]

Hey, Doc! You know we have a live one over here, right? Maybe once you’re done with the dead guy you can figure out what’s going on with him?

[Anon’s going to come over and prod Erhard on the shoulder. Knock knock anyone home?? Why is he just having to go around waking these guys all morning!!]

[It takes a while, but eventually Erhard comes out of his daze thanks to Anon's poking. Ruler can't do forensics for this one, Erhard has to take the lead on examining the... corpse.]

... keep an eye on Ruler.

[First is to confirm that the wounds in the front of the body are exit wounds and that they're all consistent sizes.]

[Indeed, they're all exit wounds that are consistent sizes. They look like they were made by a 9mm bullet, and entered in through his back.

He would also be able to tell that the angle they entered is consistent with where Ruler is sitting.]

... sh-- shot from the same location... all wounds are consistent....

[He's shaking, but he has to do this. Why is it so difficult?]

Trajectory suggests shots fired... from Ruler's position at the desk....

[The angle is right, what about gunshot residue? Any present on Watanuki's body?]

[There's a bit on the shot from the back of the head - some specks of gunpowder are present in the wound. it's also a wound made while someone was standing over him while he was lying down.

None of the other bullet holes have gunpowder residue, though.

And as he's looking at Watanuki's head, he'll notice a gash on the back of his head, which is consistent with the butt of the gun.]

You don't have to tell me twice! I'll make sure he stays in the chair, even if I have to tie him up!

[He probably doesn't have to tie him up but you never know.]
