WEEK 1 MINGLE - KALMIA
All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.
Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here - the Witch of Dimensions, Yuuko.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a horrible game.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.π

Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a horrible game.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.π
Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?
There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.
Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request - and the tv in the Sitting Room - to help ease the boredom of it all.
Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.
Despite being told someone will die, it...felt remarkably peaceful. Could one of their own really be able to kill someone?
...Or, maybe...this is just the silence that comes just before a massive storm breaks, and sweeps away everything...

Makoto Makimura doesn't want to depend on someone to bail her out of trouble once again, blind or not. She wants to get out by her own power.
Sitting Room
Looks like Makoto is writing a letter. It's a bit difficult given how she can't write perfectly straight, but the words are legible and clear:
If you want to leave the Foundation please write your name here
She also draws a few shapes on the back of the letter to be able to recognize it by touch later. When someone enters, she smiles, nudging the paper towards them]
Excuse me, did I write this legible enough?
[Foyer
The epitaph is so strange. Makoto asked one of the goats to read the epitaph to her, and then she was left alone to ponder it.
After ten minutes she hasn't made any progress at all]
What's this riddle supposed to be? I'm not sure...I don't think I get it at all.
foyer
"On the fourth night, hang the sinner to the gallows" is the only part I have any ideas about. Have you ever heard of the witch hunts that happened in the west? In old times, people who were suspected to be witches were hanged.

[About people having to die and they having to find the culprit. Thanks for the dread, witch]
no subject
It had something to do with religion, I think, so "sinner" could mean anyone who's become a heretic, too.
sitting room
It's perfectly legible for a conspirator list, yeah.

So maybe the part after that must refer to how we get to that place. Maybe to find the truth, or something. I think it's interesting that the last few lines are in Latin, though.

[IT makes sense for a riddle to be a map of some sort...she's not sure what role this has with the game they're playing in, but if it's here it must mean something]

"From one, learn everything
From the beginning
To eternal rest"
... is what it would be translated as.

Foyer
Uh... Hm. Well, it's telling us we have to kill a certain someone a certain way... Then go to the garden and see if the flowers will tell us who did the killing?
[He's trying.]
no subject
Witches brought us here through a bird visiting us. The flowers solving mysteries for us isn't so implausible.
no subject
Exactly! And then we have to gather what remains...
... Of the culprit? Are we gonna have to clean up after the executioner?

You're right, it is more like a poem. Maybe I'm just imagining things and thinking it means more than it actually does...
[It just is a bit grim. Yeah, she's focusing a lot in the parts about death]

foyer go!
It's pretty long for a riddle, so maybe we're only supposed to finish solving it after eight nights and a bunch of dead people or something?
[This sounds perfectly natural to him?? Wait.]
Besides, it keeps going on and on about the truth and not granting wishes, so it's probably not Yuuko.

[He makes a little humming noise.]
I think we should ask both of the witches. Maybe the island, too? It's an awfully big island just to give us one house to play in.

[ Maybe she'll be able to hear the smile in his voice. ]
Perfectly. [ ... ] Be careful.

[She sounds concerned about it, but clearly it wasn't enough to stop her]
I hadn't done something like this ever before.

I don't think many of us have even been in a situation like this before. So, in the end, we're left to figure it out as we go, just based on things we have been through.
I think what you're doing is brave.

Foyer - I'm so sorry he's a social moron
[He steps closer to her, making a quiet 'hmm' noise]
I am going to ask you a question simply to know what help you might require: what is the degree of your vision impairment?
[Even crouching it in those terms was more than he usually does, having to deal with bureaucracy did teach some tact, but not enough tact]
no subject
[She sure won't be able to appreciate any landmarks anywhere.
The question leaves her befuddled and annoyed. Usually she wouldn't mind
that much, but the way he asked was really condescending!]
That's a really personal question to ask!
no subject
Damnation. I didn't mean... I have a terrible habit of being blunt and not thinking before I ask questions.
That... really was an inexcusable thing to ask, I'm sorry.
