WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

[ The whole commotion about trying to stab staff on Monday has died down by now and people are mostly not giving Kohaku accusing looks about it anymore. Which means that it's finally time to stab the staff again, of course.

Kohaku loathes cooperating with scientists, but he loathes the staff more and he knows the dangers of strange monsters. He knows that sometimes science is the only thing that can save you from being consumed by them wholly until you lose yourself. So rather than sit and wait until they find out what the staff are the hard way... he'd prefer to take action.

Sometimes action means grabbing a staff member as they rush past and pushing them into a hallway corner. Sometimes it means whispering menacingly: ]

Hold very still now.

[Szayel is nearby, watching closely.

Does he have an idea of a better way to do this? Yes. Is he going to let this happen anyway? Absolutely.]

[The Staff member blinks, looking confused - but goes along with it, staying silent.]

[dolleyed]

[ Kohaku almost wants to laugh, just to shake off the feeling of sickness the staff always inspires in him. Obedient little dolls. They're disgusting.

A smaller blade appears in his hand and he doesn't give the staff member much time before slashing deeply into their arm. It's tempting to just go for the throat, but now that he's got a clear mind, Kohaku doesn't want to risk the consequences of that attempt. ]

[The moment the knife goes through, There's no blood. The Staff member grimaces, trying to pull their arm away -

And then, They vanish. As if they were a bubble that had been popped, leaving nothing but empty air.]

[dolleyed]

Oh great.

[ Well, Kohaku's just going to stare at the bloodless knife for a moment and then kick a wall. ]

Fucking hell, at least bleed you creepy pieces of garbage.

Huh... Well that isn't an expected reaction... [Szayel takes out a notebook and jots down the results of the experiment]

I have another idea, Mr. Kohaku. [from inside his coat, Szayel removes a vacutainer tube and needle] Why don't we try this?

[dolleyed]

[ For a second, Kohaku stares at the needle incredulously because now that it's in plain sight it is a) hitting him how obvious that thought was and b) hitting him that this guy always knew it was obvious.

Fucker. ]

My wild guess is that they won't bleed one bit, just like this time, but what have we got to lose....

[sorry, not sorry]

Well, we won't know until we try, will we?

[he looks around for another staff member]

Ah! You there! Would you mind taking a seat in the lobby for me?

Oh? Of course, Mr. Prince Albert!

[The Staff member immediately sits, smiling at Szayel.]

[dolleyed]

[ Kohaku'll keep his mouth shut for the duration of this, just lingering nearby to watch. ]

I would like to take a blood sample, if you don't mind. It won't hurt for more than a moment. And you can have this delightful bandage! [he smiles and holds up a bright pink, holographic band-aid. Why. He also has a piece of rubber tubing]

Let me see your arm, yes... like that, with your palm up. Now I'm going to wrap this tourniquet around your arm... [he ties the rubber tube around the staff member's upper arm. Now then. He'll look for a vein! ... do these things even have veins...]

A blood sample? Um...

[The Staff looks concerned, then brightens up.]

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll be able to provide that for you!

[And at first, There's no vein...until the Staff member perks up, and one suddenly pops forward in the skin. Hm...]

[ H M M M M M. Ok...]

Well. Please hold still, this will only pinch for a moment~

[Szayel places the needle into the vein with practiced precision and then attaches the vacutainer. What's he get?]

[He gets...Blood! Is the mission a success?]

Will that be all, Mr. Prince Albert?

[perfeccion]

[nice! He removes the needle and places the bandaid on the little spot, as promised]

Just one more question... if I were to ask you to provide, say.... a sample of maple tree sap from your body, would you also be able to oblige that request? I'm not asking you to! Just if you could.

We could, yes! Would you like for us to do that?

[dolleyed]

[perfeccion]

No thank you! I was simply... curious. [he looks at Kohaku with an eyebrow quirked]

[dolleyed]

[ Just... staring incredulously. He looks so done with all of this, but--- wait a second.

He'll turn to the staff member. ]

Would you freaks also give a sample of your flesh if asked for it?

If you'd like that, yes! Though it might collapse quickly.

[ LOOKS AT SZAYEL QUESTIONINGLY. ]

You're the science guy. That of any use?

[perfeccion]

Collapse quickly, hm? Well... I do have another request then. I need a microscope, slides, and some Wright's-Giemsa stain. As well as a sample of your tissue -- muscle with skin attached, please. It needn't be large!

Of Course! I'll go and get that for you!

[The Staff member hurries off - and comes back with everything requested, smiling brightly despite the large CHUNK OF FLESH MISSING.

There is nothing inside of the wound - only a deep blackness.]

Here you are!

[dolleyed]

[ The flesh is alright. Kohaku really couldn't care less for looking at dead bodies or pieces of them.

But that blackness? Yeah, no. He's so not fucking with that. In fact, he's going to actively step back from the staff member. ]
