MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

[Luna's either at the beach or one of the gardens, no real exceptions. She doesn't sleep or eat and has no real need to shower, so there's really no purpose to her being in her room unless she wants some quiet time.

And despite the size of the group, it's a big mansion, and a very quiet island.

There's something nostalgic about it. People crowded together under the sound of waves and the gulls. It's been a while. It's also not unusual for her to find someone messing around on the beach in the early morning, though it's been just as long since that has happened. She watches quietly for a little while.]

... I thought humans usually got up later during island vacations.

I like it before it gets bright and hot.

[he doesn't pause in his current stretch, glancing back at her]

[She'll just settle herself on the sand, patiently adjusting her sundress and continuing to spectate like he's a particularly interesting Saturday morning cartoon. Or equivalent.]

Oh, yes. The temperature is important. But you could just cool down in the ocean. It's going to be a beautiful day.

That's not a bad idea, actually...

[he might be pondering tossing Vanitas in there later]

[Well, Vanitas could always use something to cool his head, especially if he insists on wearing that big ol' helmet anymore. Luna is a fellow helmet wearer but even she wouldn't go with a visor in this weather.]

How far do you think you can swim, Overlord?

[It's more of an idle question; he doesn't seem particularly interested in leaving.

That, and he probably has nefarious plans for the ocean like he does for everything else.]

Haven't tested it. Kekeke, if I drown then you could win, is that it?

[He's joking, honest]

No, I don't think so. You shouldn't die quite so easily.

[This is probably a mark of esteem from her. Very likely.

Is she joking back? Who knows.]

[He seems to be taking it that way, and grins, showing off too many sharp teeth]

Not interested in an easy game?

[Interesting teeth. Maybe he's born with it. Maybe it's Maybhelline.]

It is not related to the game, but to your nature.

You are a weed. A tenacious one, and one that should not be allowed to take root in most gardens. But as the witch has transplanted you, she must be interested in your growth.

[Okay yeah, he's laughing]

[There's a small curl to her lips, a real smile; satisfaction and the faintest amusement.]

I am a robot. Robots trade in facts.

Just cuz it's true doesn't mean it's not flattering. Though I'm more used to things like "vulture" or "heartless bastard".

And I am more used to flattery being false. But those are the judgments of a very different society from the one I know, I think.

[She can certainly see where the descriptors are coming from -- but it's where they're going that matters at this point.]

[He supposes it makes sense: the skills he learned in acquisitions certainly helped him in the dungeon even if he was doing it 'wrong'. And here maybe they would make him even more effective]

And what about you? You thinking of sticking around like a weed too?

[The so-called society she come from places a lot more emphasis on transferable skills than you'd expect.

There's a hint of a smile, once more.]

I usually wouldn't need to be a weed to stay around. It's inconvenient. But I am interested in this game.

You too? Even if I don't get my wish, I wanna see how this plays out.

As I've said, this isn't necessary for my wish -- it's just convenient. It's rare to get such a show at home.
