WEEK 4

The weekend that just passed was....frankly, a lot. Yet despite all odds, you somehow pulled out a win from the jaws of utter defeat. As you wake up feeling tired but happy, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.

"Attention, Guests. This week, The game is temporarily suspended. This week, there will be no mafia kill. Take a break for your hard work."

And...indeed, it seems like this is a peace week. The Staff, after the disappearance of The Captain, are acting worse than they did last week - not only is there the blankness and the stuttering, but sometimes they even get orders wrong, with potentially hazardous results. Asking the Staff for things has become more dangerous and unreliable, but at least you meals are still good. Speaking of, The Chef has put a sign up on the door, reading "DO NOT TAKE KNIVES WITHOUT ASKING FIRST!! THAT MEANS YOU!!" written in big, angry letters. The resort also seems to be gearing up for Christmas - there are lights and trees scattered around the place, as well as mistletoe for couples to get their public displays of affection on. There's also some other holiday decorations around, for Kwanzaa and....something else you definitely have never seen before. The thing....wriggles, and you don't want to be around it for long.

The weather is still nothing, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Are you getting closer to the truth of this place, maybe? It's hard to say.

[The catventures provided a bit of a distraction yesterday, but Atsushi is irritated. And has been for a couple days. Something has been brewing and making him a bit snappish, and it's finally coming to a head.

Or, well. It's enough that he's finally going to talk about it, even if he hates talking in public.

So on Wednesday morning, he's going to stand up in a chair in the dining roon and just. Say something to everyone in there eating lunch.]

Three things!

One: Yes, I turn into a tiger. Yes, it's dangerous. And yes, I know the full moon is coming up, which is the most dangerous time of the month for me. But I'm fine, you don't have to go hurrying around behind my back like I'm some- some bomb that's about to explode or something!

Two: If you're going to get aggressive at me or treat me differently because of it, please don't. This isn't something new for me, I know how to handle it.

suddenly a plate of food that is floating and is going to zoom quickly out of the dining area with the plate, bye!!]

[Welp. Look at that food gooooo]

That's the opposite of what I said, asshole!

[The plate freezes its movements for what seems to be a minute

And just skulks out sadly. But not without a tablet ping:]

I don't think I can even hurt you anyway, you're already dead.

[Maybe? He's never tried to hurt a ghost with his tiger form before.]

[Ripley pauses mid-chew, raising her eyebrow and placing her fork on her plate. This seemed to be unprompted, but...then again, she doesn't know what's been going on with Atsushi.

Well. This would explain several things about him over the past few weeks.]

That's two things. [A pause.] Why didn't you tell us about this until now?

I don't usually tell people the first time I meet them, because most people don't have abilities and the 'this is how abilities' work talk is long.

And then I didn't tell anyone because I didn't want to get voted to execution under suspicion of being one of the mafia.

[Ripley pauses.] Fair enough.

[She...still seems incredibly wary of the fact that, you know, this guy turns into a goddamn tiger, but at least he's telling them now before things happen.]

Just so we're clear, what happens if you end up not being able to handle it? I know you said that this isn't anything new, but you can't blame me for trying to be cautious.

Well...just stay far away from me, and you should be fine. 'He' doesn't hunt people, 'he' just attacks anything in his line of sight. I think.

[Someone doesn't sound completely sure.]

[He stops in mid-bite, swallowing as he listens. Atsushi sounds furious, and he kind of can't blame him?]

Geez... If they're worried, shouldn't they actually talk to you...?

Some are. But this is just so they know that I know they know, so they will come talk to me.

And, er. Anyone else I guess.

Sounds similar to a werewolf. Except for the fact you turn into a tiger instead. [her response is fairly casual because she knows people similar to that and because being a vampire, she knows how that is with people treating her different or acting hostile towards her]

What was the third thing?

[Ironically, the casual attitude is exactly what he needs right now.]

...you know, that's pretty much it. One of the names people called me back home was even 'jinko', which basically means 'weretiger'.

[And the third thing...]

Oh! The third thing was about just staying inside on Saturday night and you will all be fine.

No wonder they gave you that name then. Never thought I'd meet someone who is a weretiger though. [she thinks it's kind of cool actually and maybe she is a bit curious too...] Was it something that was part of you since you were born?

[hearing his third point though she just nods at that] Ah, right. Yeah staying inside during that time totally makes sense.

[Snake doesn't even have disbelief about any of this shit anymore this is just how things are now.]

How big's the tiger?

As big as a normal tiger, I guess?

[Snake visualises it in his head, for a moment.

Eh, if he can take on a tank 1v1 he can wrestle a tiger if need be.]

Anything special about it?

[There is a slight raise of eyebrows and a pause as Tsumugi waits for his third point.]

... You forgot the third thing, Atsushi-kun.

[There's a hint of amusement in her voice at that. Tsumugi doesn't seem that affected by this revelation at this point. She's seen a lot of strange things here, so turning into a tiger is pretty tame.]

...ah.

[Oh look, he's a little embarrassed now.]

Um. J-just stay inside on Saturday night, to be extra-safe.

[A pause.]

...Hey, you'll be staying inside your room too, right? I don't want you to get hurt if you get out.

[What if he attacks the staff or something? That just has bad idea written all over it.]

[She'll keep quiet while he does his little speech -- she seems attentive, if tired and kind of stressed out, and she's been more or less staring at her food more than eating it -- but once Atsushi is all done, Blue Angel will wait for an opportunity to talk to him when he isn't being swarmed.]

Are you sure you'll be okay, Nakajima-kun? I don't really understand your transformation... But I think there was a third thing. I heard about it from Inaba-san.

[She only really knows much about the partial transformation, and she's leaving it up to him if he wants to go further into detail about the issue.]
