WEEK 4

The weekend that just passed was....frankly, a lot. Yet despite all odds, you somehow pulled out a win from the jaws of utter defeat. As you wake up feeling tired but happy, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.

"Attention, Guests. This week, The game is temporarily suspended. This week, there will be no mafia kill. Take a break for your hard work."

And...indeed, it seems like this is a peace week. The Staff, after the disappearance of The Captain, are acting worse than they did last week - not only is there the blankness and the stuttering, but sometimes they even get orders wrong, with potentially hazardous results. Asking the Staff for things has become more dangerous and unreliable, but at least you meals are still good. Speaking of, The Chef has put a sign up on the door, reading "DO NOT TAKE KNIVES WITHOUT ASKING FIRST!! THAT MEANS YOU!!" written in big, angry letters. The resort also seems to be gearing up for Christmas - there are lights and trees scattered around the place, as well as mistletoe for couples to get their public displays of affection on. There's also some other holiday decorations around, for Kwanzaa and....something else you definitely have never seen before. The thing....wriggles, and you don't want to be around it for long.

The weather is still nothing, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Are you getting closer to the truth of this place, maybe? It's hard to say.

[ Owain has felt unstoppable since yesterday. Defeating the Barghest once and for all has left a thrum of energy to run through his body. He feels like he’s definitely leveled up a lot since arriving at the Resort. But he knows that the end isn’t in sight yet. There’s too much that can’t be accounted for yet. Owain knows that he can always count on his swords, but there needs to be something more there. He approaches the Staff with requests. Simple, but effective at making him even strong.

He’s careful, this time, as he gets his items. He watches them, and nods when only one of them is rushed off. Better…

Owain can be found in the dojo. He’s got some sort of circular object in hand, glowing with a bright light. Light sparkles around him before he proceeds to throw it into the air. It floats momentarily, spinning rapidly before lightning (what is it with this boy and lightning?) shoots down and strikes him, encasing him in bright light.

When the light fades, Owain stands there, now dressed in the clothes of the Dread Figher. An ominous, red glow surrounds him now as he looks at his new outfit. ]

This is where the legend of Owain Dark truly begins!

[ Later, Owain is still in the Dojo. Absent are the swords he typically carries around. Right now, he only has a Bronze Axe and a… yellow book. Presently, the axe is set to the side. He opens the book with a dramatic flair and begins reading outloud, chanting. Light begins to form circles around him before a small ball of electricity forms at his hands ]

Thunder!

[ He shoots the ball at a training dummy before nodding, satsified. ]

Man, I should have started learning how to use tomes ages ago!

[ BRB gonna go pick up that axe. ]

Are you changing it up?

I figured that it'll give me more options. Dread Fighters can use axes and tomes in addition to swords.

Oh! So you'll be versatile! [ A beat ] Will it help with dodging?

[ Let's make sure there's plenty of space between them as she holds up the ax to test it. ]

Don't forget that I still have the skills I've learned from being a swordsman. [ holds up his tome ]

I'm still just as fast as before.

Can I see? I don't think I ever got to see how fast you are.

More Thunder magic?

It felt appropriate. Fire would be useless, all things considered, and Wind is still too advanced for me.

And despite your insistence on the name "Owain Dark," you're unable to use dark magic.

[ so, okay, he will accept thunder. ]

Maybe in some far flung reality, I choose to become a Dark Mage.

... Dark Mages don't typically wear so much yellow.

Minato mostly ends up peeking in because of the light show, but he's... still not sure what he's looking at.]

... Did you just level up...?

[ owain turns and gives minato a grin ]

Not too far off the mark! While this great hero has leveled up over the course of the weekend due to the events that occurred, this is merely an ascension of the skills that I shall hone! Because of the Dread Scroll that I requested, it imbued me with it's dark magic, allowing me to change from a simple Swordmaster to the powerful Dread Fighter!

So you did a class change?

[This is getting real meta here, Owain.]

To put it simply, yes.

[ look. he shouts out names of previous fire emblem games as attacks META IS WHAT I DO ]

[ That's incredible, and the sight gets Roxas to stare in awe as the lightshow happens as it does before his eyes when Owain does his class change just like that. ]

...That's amazing. What's all that supposed to do, though?

[ Changing clothes like that. ]

I'm no longer a mere Swordmaster, but have ascended and become the feared Dread Fighter.

[ Roxas blinks at those names, wonder still caught in his eyes. ]

I don't think I've ever heard of those titles before?

Ah, they're the names of the various types of fighters that can be found in my world! Each one can wield certain types of weapons.

So you can just change into any kind of fighter you want?

[ That's what "ascended" sounds like to him now...another word for "changing" into a better fighter. ]

Class change is the most apt, Tsumugi! I am no longer a Swordmaster, I've become a Dread Fighter!
