[CONTINUE + 3] Week 1 || Act: mingle

Monday comes onto the snowy town once more, though it still looks as if it's 'night' as ever.

Then again, you are underground. That's just to be expected, considering no natural light can get down here in the first place. The Monsters around you are just as friendly as ever, despite this being your fourth 'time' trying this monday.

There doesn't seem to be many Monsters here...or at least, you think there was more before? Huh.

Well, whatever.

You still have a mission - And with three trials under your belt, you're now a little closer to figuring things out.

...How much longer will this repeat?

FUN VALUE: 7

[ Aww. :c ]

Then I think you gotta tell me what kind you're thinking of. I mostly play, you know, fighty punch punch games.

'Meta' visual novels.

Translation: games that see the player behind the screen and do weird shit with that.
soupervillain: (realization)

[personal profile] soupervillain 2020-09-02 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
There's games that can do that? Aw geez, this is why I stick to nice wholesome games where you beat people up for entertainment!
dereban: ([m] 45)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-02 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
... Yeah.

Well, it doesn't really 'see' the player, but rather, calls them out on their decisions - things like that. But those types of games, to complete them, the player has to do something in reality in order to get the True Ending.

Like looking through the game files, things like that.
justonezero: (Even so)

[personal profile] justonezero 2020-09-03 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ones where the story is structured so it's like the character is talking to you, right? And it looks through your computer's info so it can find your name and surprise you with it, and updates the game files with new information as you progress?

I guess it's kind of similar, but even the more thorough ones are pretty scripted.
dereban: ([m] 31)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-03 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

This might be a little more... advanced, maybe?
justonezero: (and nobody gives a)

[personal profile] justonezero 2020-09-03 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Normally you'd think living, breathing people like us coming into the game setting would cause problems... I mean, we aren't really limited to the usual commands games have.
dereban: ([m] 94)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-03 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
The thing is that... maybe to the game, we aren't 'living, breathing people'. We're all just fiction.

6350 or no.

I think there's a lot of complexities here, personally, but all of it is giving me a headache.
justonezero: (to hurt others)

[personal profile] justonezero 2020-09-03 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? But we're already outside of the UI parameters, aren't we...?

[He is definitely focused on the video game aspects.]
dereban: (pic#14190003)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-03 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
To us, yes.

But - that might not be the case for the player.

So even our actions are still within the restrictions of the game?

[Hn.]
dereban: ([m] 94)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-03 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
It could be, yeah. If we're going all the way with this.
justonezero: (the town from)

[personal profile] justonezero 2020-09-04 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
[tilting his head, looking uncomfortable.]

...Wait. There is a game we're all working in the restrictions of already, isn't there...?

What do you mean?
justonezero: (the town from)

[personal profile] justonezero 2020-09-04 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Those death games. It's the same basic rules as always.
dereban: ([m] 57)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-04 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
-- wait.

You're right. It's... weird, isn't it? It's always set up the same way.
justonezero: (memories never go away)

[personal profile] justonezero 2020-09-04 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
We've always wondered why this keeps happening to us. The RPG elements are new, but maybe it's some kind of death game VN?

[personal profile] le_mat 2020-09-04 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Me and Dazai-san were talking about that when we first got here. Thinking there was some kind of overarching thing making it keep happening that way. But once stuff started happening I stopped thinking about it...
oceanicbutterfly: ([k] Hm...)

[personal profile] oceanicbutterfly 2020-09-04 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
It would even explain why it's always Thursday night. The "game" is on a strict weekly schedule so that the player always knows how much time they have to do things.
justonezero: (to hurt others)

[personal profile] justonezero 2020-09-04 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Eh- doesn't that make it more like an old-fashioned game?

The convenience of online-based multiplayer was our downfall all along...!

I'd say 'time to delete the internet', but I actually like the internet.

That would mean The Foundation 5 was a prequel...
