RECORDING 9: THE THIRD TRIAL.

The worst has happened... and now you're all here, in the living room where all the trials so far have taken place. As all of you enter, the Vessel is there - Jack, looking expectant and as militaristic as ever.

On one of the tables away from the center is a small enclosed box entitled 'VOTES', with slips of paper nearby and a pen. It's sufficiently away from what will be the 'main' action, but not enough to really give anyone complete privacy as they vote.

Once everyone is inside, the doors automatically shut and lock themselves, leaving you trapped in here with the Vessel...and each other.

One of you is a murderer...however, in this game, the guilty do not need to be voted out. As long as there are enough people voted out that matches the victims...then it will be accepted.

...But, can you really let someone get away with murder...?

The choice is up to you.

But this time...potentially, someone innocent...must die as well.

VICTIMS: FLAYN AND HAKU
PEOPLE TO VOTE OUT: 2

WEEK 3 VOTING

RULES + QUESTIONS

[ Jack is here and present, the only thing different about him is the fact that he's carrying a new pulse rifle, though this one is now tinged with purple to match his current outfit. He stands at attention with the rifle, waiting for everyone to show up. Once everyone is here, he relaxes, hoisting the gun so it rests against his shoulders, like so ]

You've all be here before, so you should remember how this goes. But for the sake of everyone, I'll repeat the rules. You best listen up, because again, I don't tolerate insubordination.

- Everyone who's still alive gets one vote. Whoever receives the most votes will be executed.
- The number of people executed will equal the number of victims. Since two people have been murdered, the two people with the most votes will be executed.
- Any deaths that occur during trials do not count as executions. Someone must still be voted out and executed.
- You can't vote for the dead, even if they were the one who murdered someone.
- The person who will be executed doesn't have to have been the killer. If you wanna get rid of someone, go ahead and vote someone to put them up for death. However, you must make an attempt to determine the identity of the killer.
- Voting is mandatory. Anyone who does not vote will die.

Make sure you cast your votes into the box. [ gestures at it ] You have six hours.

If you need anymore clarification, go ahead and ask. You have your orders. Go ahead and get to it!

Mr. Armburst and I investigated the Library.

It was a mess - books fallen off the shelf, furniture upturned, and a trail of blood leading out to the trophy room.

[He then presents Flayn's staff and Some throwing needles

I found the staff under one of the bookshelves, and these needles embedded in them.

The walls and floor are either soaked or burnt in places - as if done by elemental damage.

And finally, when I looked for Miss Flayn, I found a half-eatened ration in the kitchen

Did I miss anything, Mr. Armburst?

[If you missed the news, or only heard it second-hand, Rosa has a very visible and very gnarly gash across her throat, held together by sutures and bandages.

It's a new week, so she's making a show of loading her gun with five bullets... she already had it loaded throughout the week, but she had taken them out specifically so she could put them in again, in front of everyone. As if daring anyone to object, again.

A quick glance was thrown around the room. If you had a good relationship with Rosa, you got a little nod and a a subtle little smile. If you didn't have such a relationship, you got a suspicious look instead. ...You know who you are, right?]

...

[She holders her gun to unholster her notebook, and then lifts the cover to display a written message:

"For those with a reason they could not have been the culprit or one of the culprits, a COHERENT reason, step forward and let it be heard. It'll be more convincing now than if you have to rely on it later."]

And here I thought that thing was sitting under my bunk, away from any trigger happy fingers. You go diving under my bed and give it a paint job or is this a new model?

[Olympia's head pops out of the floor.]

Each living person votes once per victim. In this case, you would vote twice.

[And she disappears as inexplicably as she'd appeared.]

[ Gilgamesh took out photos of Flayn's dead body, if anyone wanted to see those, though he's not exactly handing them over or making a show of showing them off. Just that they're present. ]

Flayn was found in the trophy room. had a large hole in her chest and on the left, which seemed to be from being impaled through by one of the animal heads' antlers in the trophy room.

There were cuts from wind magic which also seemed to line up with something small, thin, and sharp. The bruises made seemed to from objects hitting her, rather than anyone hitting her with their hands or feet. These were partially healed.

It seems holy magic was used, in order for her to heal herself, I imagine.

There was also some demonic energy present. The holy magic and demonic magic seemed to somehow originate from the same source, which would've been likely Flayn.

She mentioned before that Nosferatu was unique for a healing spell, and this might have something to do with it.

It also looked like she was missing her heart.

Romani will be able to tell you anymore additional details I wasn't able to find from looking at the body.

[ Anyway... ]

Beyond that, in the library I was able to identify what seemed to be fire and water magic intermingled around the books. There was the same holy magic from which I assume to be Flayn, and the wind magic that caused her wounds. However, there seemed to be the presence of some wind magic that came from Flayn as well.

I found traces of that demonic magic once more, and some other magic with no element. It appeared to be some type of passive magic.

Considering how violent the fighting was, as evident by the scenes, we can safely eliminate people who were grossly injured during the week.

[hi, my name is Dazai Osamu and I was nearly killed by electric trap.]

Nah, you got most of it. Only thing I have to add is that the books were in the same state as the floor.

Oh. And it was all elemental damage, no blade marks anywhere to be seen.

So likely we're dealing with water or ice, and fire or lightning respectively.

Haku had ice abilities, which likely means the opponent--likely Flayn--had the fire ability...

[Dazai gets a suspicious look... but she nods at that response. Then writes her reply:

"Logical. You are stating your innocence, are you not? By that reasoning, I myself am also innocent."]

. . .

[yeah, she knows who she is, alright, and that's why she narrows her eyes, not even intimidated in the slightest bit]

I might have a solid reason for taking the motive, but if I say "if there is only one culprit, one of the best options right now would be to vote me out", that should be enough, should it not?

Especially given the rules of this game.

[this is not to say that she wants to be voted out but she's making a point.]

[Once Sissel has someone read her note aloud:]

My defense is pretty obvious: while I could have, in theory, dropped the moose head onto Flayn, the rest of the injuries are way beyond my physical ability. Same for Haku and the injury to Seteth.

Might help if we focus on what time we think it happened. If it's after a certain time, then I'm pretty dead to the world. There's no chance of waking me.

Mm, well, as far as the evidence we're presented with... it wouldn't make sense for someone grossly injured to be able to do the damage that was wrought. That only makes sense.

"You may not confess until you are cornered. The ghosts said as much. If you are not guilty, you may not, and will not, be voted out.

I investigated the Hallway, along with Marona-san. This was where we found Haku-san and Seteth-san. My primary focus was on the scene itself.

There was a large amount of damage to the area, to the point where there was rubble from the walls and floor all over the place. The walls were dented, indicating something heavy being thrown multiple times. The furniture showed evidence of being cut by a large sword, but not as the primary target. Finally, there were claw marks gouged into the walls and floor.

Seteth-san was also found unconscious on the scene, along with his spear and shield, though from what I could tell, neither appear to have been used in whatever happened.

Finally, we found Haku-san's body there. I believe those who investigated his body more closely would be able to give more details.

Besides that, I would like to add that her time of death was two to three hours before we arrived. In other words, it was a recent fight. And as for the wounds...

[ he sighs. ]

All her wounds were made prior to her death. Including the one on her chest. She also has some broken ribs, but that’s not surprising considering things.

So it sounds like Flayn and Haku got into it but while healing herself... potentially something went wrong and holy capabilities went demonic with miasma influence?

[unless there was demonic influence before the miasam...]
