RECORDING 9: THE THIRD TRIAL.

The worst has happened... and now you're all here, in the living room where all the trials so far have taken place. As all of you enter, the Vessel is there - Jack, looking expectant and as militaristic as ever.

On one of the tables away from the center is a small enclosed box entitled 'VOTES', with slips of paper nearby and a pen. It's sufficiently away from what will be the 'main' action, but not enough to really give anyone complete privacy as they vote.

Once everyone is inside, the doors automatically shut and lock themselves, leaving you trapped in here with the Vessel...and each other.

One of you is a murderer...however, in this game, the guilty do not need to be voted out. As long as there are enough people voted out that matches the victims...then it will be accepted.

...But, can you really let someone get away with murder...?

The choice is up to you.

But this time...potentially, someone innocent...must die as well.

Mr. Armburst and I investigated the Library.

It was a mess - books fallen off the shelf, furniture upturned, and a trail of blood leading out to the trophy room.

[He then presents Flayn's staff and Some throwing needles

I found the staff under one of the bookshelves, and these needles embedded in them.

The walls and floor are either soaked or burnt in places - as if done by elemental damage.

And finally, when I looked for Miss Flayn, I found a half-eatened ration in the kitchen

Nah, you got most of it. Only thing I have to add is that the books were in the same state as the floor.

Oh. And it was all elemental damage, no blade marks anywhere to be seen.

So likely we're dealing with water or ice, and fire or lightning respectively.

Most likely. And by now we all know Haku has ice, so we only need to explain the fire.

The needles are called senbon. They're Haku's weapon of choice.

Haku had ice abilities, which likely means the opponent--likely Flayn--had the fire ability...

If her staff was found at the scene, yeah. The fire damage was probably from her, though I don't remember her mentioning an ability like that last week.

She didn't really talk about her capabilities... last trial, she only talked about healing spells and the like.

Oh well. Maybe we can have Seteth tell us more about her magic later.

It's true that Haku had ice so he's probably the source of the water. But he's not the only one that had water skills. I know Subete does too.

There's always a chance someone else was there, sure. But don't forget, Zabuza confirmed that the needles Ky are Haku's weapon of choice.

That puts him at the scene, so the simplest answer here is Haku caused the water damage.

Agreed. Just important to not lock ourselves into absolutes just yet.
