Week 4

It finally happened. Someone murdered, and was punished for it. After a particularly grueling trial, one much worse than the games ever were, everyone definitely needed the rest of the weekend to rest up. But now it is Monday once more, and that means it is time to get back to 'work'.

The cameras have moved again, and the contestants will need to be careful where they say what until their new locations have been revealed. In addition to that, the house itself seems to have changed, with its usual colorful appearance suddenly a bit more grey. Even the weather seems to be gloomy, with those storm clouds from last week starting to overcast the area, threatening to drop rain.

Seventeen contestants remain in this game of death. How many more will fall before the game is over? And how many more will be driven to murder?

[Silver heads to the memorial with a watering can and a small bag from the kitchen and he spots Ellie. He pauses, giving her some space to do what she wants to privately before approaching]

Good morning.

[Depending on how long Silver watches, he'll find that Ellie is mostly focused on the new additions she put in, though particular attention seems to be focused on the section with the name "Caithe" written on it. Still, once Silver approaches, she looks towards him and bows her head slightly.]

Good morning. I hope nobody minds the new additions too much, I was just thinking that the Foundation's probably going to forget they ever lived, so I should probably do something for them, too.

No, of course not. The memorial is for everyone, for whatever they want to put here. [as long as it isn't garbage, nora] ... can I ask who they are?

Oh, they were a team I wound up transferred to for a month. Hideki Hinata, Caithe, Poe Dameron, Nana Osaki, and Ginevra Weasly... Though everyone called her "Ginny".

Hideki was probably what you would call the "leader" of the team. Well, he was still D-Rank like the rest of us of course, but... He would do things like set up movie nights and little parties so that everyone could get closer to each other.

Caithe was... she was a lot like me, actually. She was way better with words, though. She was really good at figuring out secrets, and was always trying to do the right thing, but she was also the secretive type, so we often wouldn't hear about it until after she did something.

Poe was the reckless type. He was a genius when it came to driving or piloting things, but he tended to jump into things without thinking and get everyone into trouble.

Nana... Well, she called herself a sadist, actually. Still, she was good at taking care of people, even though she had a lot of trouble depending on other people.

And Ginny... Ginny was feisty. Nothing could scare her, and she would always stand up for what she believed in. She was even running a blog about the Site, if I recall. Limited to the Foundation, of course.

It was a good team. Still, none of them were a good fit for the Foundation as it is now.

[Silver listens to her talking about the team with a small smile]

Sounds like it was a good team. Are they... all gone?

[Ellie takes a moment before nodding.]

They really weren't suited for the Foundation as it is now. Eventually the higher-ups concluded that they were a high flight risk, that they were already planning an escape. Rather than risking a containment breach by watching and waiting, they concluded that it was best to have them terminated.

To be honest, I still don't know how true that story was. It's true that they didn't get along with the higher-ups at all, though. They were outspoken and would stand up for what's right no matter what their superiors said, after all.

[And as we all know, that's still not treated as a good thing in the Foundation.]

[a sigh]

So unfortunate. Maybe if the Foundation stopped to look at what made people feel like running away, instead of just terminating every little bit of dissent...

[he touches Ginny's name on the block]

I read about her, a little. The House gave me one of the books she's in. .... I think I would have liked her. I'm sorry you lost them, Ellie.

...Yeah, you probably would have.

[She closes her eyes for a moment, and...]

Honestly, there's a non-zero chance there are other versions of them, somewhere in the Foundation. If there are, I want to help make the Foundation a place where they don't end up suppressed like that.

.. I want to help change the Foundation, too. I want them to be able to do their job without hurting so many people in the process...
