Things had changed so rapidly in the past few days.

The loss of two of them hung over like a shroud, made even worse by the fact that an innocent person had been executed.

Was this....how the rest of the game was going to go...?🗈

....Even if it was, there wasn't much they could do now. Yuuko herself hasn't shown up in public since the trial, and while some have talked to her, she's been...subdued.

Did the trial hurt her just as much as them?

Regardless, the island is still beautiful, if deadly. Summer continues, beaming down on all of them, the waves of the sea warm and inviting.

But even if things look bleak...

They have something in their hands that will soon lead to the Truth, and the heart of this matter.

And in the air...lies a heavy sense that everything is about to change.

[ So, Akira had said he'd do it, and he meant that. So, he's taken a few of the leftover water balloon and blown those up, leaving them on the table as decorations, and then he's made an Attempt at baking a cake.

It's decorated about how you'd expect a 16yo teenager with a lingering problem with perfectionism to do it? AKA it's not too bad, but there are signs that he might have tried a little too hard - it's chocolate and vanilla, with the vanilla layer lightly sweetened. Also there's a fancy fruit "tarte-a-whatever" from Sora!

There's a decent-sized banner that says: "Happy Birthday, Sora"

... And, then, with more paper and in even bigger letters, it says: "AND AKIRA"

The dot on the "i" in Birthday is a crown, and there are mouse ears on the "D" in "AND" - all thanks to Sora. ]

Apparently. Mine was technically a month, or so, ago. I just made the mistake of telling Sora I turned sixteen a week before ending up at the foundation...

But, he told me his birthday was a week from the day we wound up here... so I wanted to do something special for him.

Wooow, I'm starting to wonder if Feathers just went ahead and chose people based on their birthdays? That seems about as good an idea as any.

[We're not sure if he just dragged the bird witch to hell and back or not, but something sure happened there. Anon is grinning something of a shit-eating grin when he appears in the proceedings, which should probably be a warning on its own. But it's okay.

He more-or-less knows Sora, and Akira's cemented himself as a shitpost disaster already by this point. So when Anon pops up at this particular celebration, he's more or less prepared.



He brought fish. So much fish. At least a pile of fish, just glistening and fishy-smelling next to the cake because what do you want from him.]

I don't mind having cake every day for the rest of the Game, though.

... then walks into the kitchen to get things to wrap the fish with, and his shoulders might be shaking a tiny bit on the way there. He comes back with just. Things. From the kitchen... ]

[He sees that laughing! That's probably laughing, which probably means his gift was well-received. Anon gives a little clap of satisfaction and waits semi-patiently for Akira's return. He's about to pout a little about the fish not getting cooked right away -- it'll get terribly smelly in here -- but then he's distracted.

Akira gets a couple blinks in confusion. He looks around.]

I should keep it in mind, too. I think cake could solve a lot of our problems.

[That is probably not serious, though there's a twinkle in his eye as he definitively eyes the cake and starts moseying closer to it. It is very likely that he will consume more than a little of it. He is the great Cakemaster, after all.

Whether Sora has seen him at actual cake duty is a matter for debate, but it's probably pretty notorious.]
