MOCK ROUND - WEEK 2
There was only one week left in this game, if the Witch was to be believed.
Despite the trial and it's painful conclusion, everything had been quiet over the weekend.
And those that had been lost were supposed to come back on this day. Not only that, but their natural abilities were supposed to return to them this week...🗈

And those that had been lost were supposed to come back on this day. Not only that, but their natural abilities were supposed to return to them this week...🗈
And, indeed, as they wake up on Monday morning - the feeling of their old, lost abilities filters back in.
One promise kept - so will the others be kept, as well? As the prospect of the final week in the game stretches out before them, there's a sense of anticipation in the air...along with the grim knowledge that this weekend, the investigation and trial will happen again.
At least it'll be for the last time, right?

[listens, smacking her lips with distaste]
Is that so? The so-called owner of this gameboard has simply thrown up their hands and said: "Who cares about rules!"? That's somewhat of a contradiction, is it not? It puts me in mind of two parties entering arbitration over some dispute, with the understanding they can disregard all established rules of evidence in presenting their case... no doubt the ensuing judgment would be amusing, but it'd hardly be called fair. --Well, I'm no lawyer. If that's how they chose to do it and you agreed, then that's that, isn't it?
...But I think you're forgetting one thing. Just... one thing.
[winks]
It doesn't matter who I'm replacing... do you know who I am? Here's a hint... I am not "Furudo Erika."

[Just by saying that, Erika should realize her meaning.
She gives a wave of her hand, waving off what Erika's saying as easily as she'd wave away a bug.]
I know exactly who you are, Erika - you don't have to tell me at all. ...Ah, but just a warning. While I don't really care what you do while you're here, the owner does have the right to punish anyone who misbehaves. That's all I'm going to saaaaay~

Like I said I'm not something that just gets stuffed in a closet and forgotten about.
[Other pieces, and careless game masters, however...]
If it's all the same to you, Lady Lambdadelta, I think I will state it, and state it very loudly.
[there's a sharp intake of breath--]

[she raises her thin little arms, as if an orchestra maestro about to call forth the crescendo--]

[finally she brings her arms down, hands tightly balled into white-knuckled fists]
The entire game up until now must therefore conform to Knox's Decalogue! ...If the Game Master cannot make it so, then it becomes a logic error! Which I call for enforcement... immediately!

[pauses, then settles into a demure little smile]
Just from the existence of one Great Detective Furudo Erika... see how far her reasoning has taken her.
What do you think... everyone?

...I'm not going to intercede on this one. This is your territory, so you'll have to lay down the rules, okay?
[Nothing happens-]

It feels like a hand is placed on her shoulder, and long hair falling on her skin - though even if she looks, there's nothing.
There's a breath on her ear, as someone speaks-]
You are not the Great Detective, nor do you possess any Authority beyond the scraps I will give you.
You are here not because this must be a mystery, but because your owner decided to haphazardly toss you on the board.
In addition, due to there not being one defined detective, Knox's Decalogue does not apply. There are a set of defined rules that allow this game to be played that allow for things Knox does not.
[There's a low chuckle, cruel and amused.]
Lastly...You believe yourself to be a Queen in this game, but you are merely a Pawn among Pawns. You can become anything you desire...if you manage to make your way across the board, which you have not.
Do not attempt to override my authority again, little girl.
[With a harsh, joyful laugh, the feeling of the hand and hair fade....along with the black fire.
Though, there's a tiny burn mark in an odd shape on her hand...]
3/3
Don't say I didn't warn you, Erika-chan.

[THIS IS... A LOT TO REACT TO, for starters she screams horribly at the pain washing over her, the surprise enough to make her fall to her knees]
...
[It subsides as the oppressive presence vanishes, but is replaced by a new feeling...
Fear]
You... can't... No!
[Horror set in as she saw little mark left on her hand, face going red with shame and embarrassment]
You scummy piece of refuse!! New rules!? Don't fuck with meeeeeee!
[obviously being humiliated wasn't enough, Erika decided she needed to have a full-fledged tantrum. She pounded the ground like an overwhelmed spoiled child that didn't know how to deal with being denied a new toy to play with. Her mental clutch stuck in making the transition from 'denial' to 'anger'.]

How pitiful, Eriiiiiikaaaaa~! Ah, but you look good with your face all twisted up in rage like that, seeeee? *cackle cackle cackle!*
no subject
[she stares directly at her, teeth gritted through the tears that were now coming]
How can you enable this!? What kind of second-rate witch are you propping up now?! Don't you have any standards?!
