MOCK ROUND - WEEK 2

There was only one week left in this game, if the Witch was to be believed.

Despite the trial and it's painful conclusion, everything had been quiet over the weekend.

And those that had been lost were supposed to come back on this day. Not only that, but their natural abilities were supposed to return to them this week...🗈

And, indeed, as they wake up on Monday morning - the feeling of their old, lost abilities filters back in.

One promise kept - so will the others be kept, as well? As the prospect of the final week in the game stretches out before them, there's a sense of anticipation in the air...along with the grim knowledge that this weekend, the investigation and trial will happen again.

At least it'll be for the last time, right?

[ He's frowning as he watches...

It's the mention of the latter thing that has him momentarily just staring. He doubts there's really a spell that could make just the feeling stop, and yet he's inclined to believe there's a chance, all things considered. After a moment, he speaks up again. ]

... Hey.

Hm?

[He only half-turns Vanitas' way, selecting a heavy tome. Yeah, this is the one he remembered seeing...]

... Still beating yourself up over the stupid trial?

[curryparty]

[He hums thoughtfully to himself as he tucks that book under his arm, moving to find another.]

I just don't think someone should have to hurt all the time.

[So, yes. He is.]

[enter_the_darkness]

[ ... Yeah, that answers that. He sighs. ]

Heh... The only thing that happened was me losing the wish.

[curryparty]

Ahhh, so it was an illusion after all.

[That tracks. Stacking that book along with the other!]

It still sounds like an important wish, though.

[ He looks to the side. ]

... It is. [ hm ] Didn't you say your magic requires a sacrifice?

Mm-hmm. All magic from my world does.

[And yet, the collection of books doesn't stop.]

[enter_the_darkness]

[ SIGHING. . . ]

If nothing else, your determination is admirable.

[ D-did he just Compliment? ]

[curryparty]

[His hand pauses briefly in the air before properly reaching for the next book.]

I'm not usually the one who hears things like that.

[enter_the_darkness]

[ Just shrugging! ... And falling into an awkward kind of silence after that. Don't mind as he just sits here now, staring at the floor. ]

[You go ahead and be awkward, Vanitas. Once he's collected his books, he's off to the table to get his study on, reading...

Actually, pretty quickly. Vanitas can probably make his escape unpestered pretty easily with Asuma actually occupied like this.]
