WEEK 1 - MINGLE

WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

purrtagonist: from the devil. for your own safety (Everyone please stand 20 feet away)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-27 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm. You're right; there probably is an explanation.

But I think we'll adapt better if we accept what we see for what it is for now. I think we can figure things out along the way.

[which isn't to say he thinks they should actually go along with the rules they're given. on the contrary, Akira intends to take those rules and dunk them into the nearest trashcan as he handles this situation his way]

[but adaptability is a strength. the ability to go with the flow of things, no matter how strange. that's what he's advocating for, here]
latebluemer: (バサッ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Of course she understands that, and the need to go with the flow, to make quick -- even split-second -- adjustments for changing and absurd circumstances considering she's a duelist. And especially considering those she duels with. There's no such thing as absolute paths in the world she's grown up in.

All the same--

All the same, learning it for duels and learning it for real life are two very different things. She's still in the midst of it.]

... Well. I've accepted that if I try to fly too far, I'll end up stuck on a couch with way too many people.
purrtagonist: (Can I dodge the forcefield)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-28 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[a soft snort]

It's a start.

Are you guys okay?

[they don't look hurt, but still. . . he wants to make sure]
latebluemer: (えっ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
No harm done up here. It’s a little hard to check on the others, though.

[That’s your job, Mr. Raining Men.

She shifts a little bit, the tower wobbles, but holds. After the initial startled reaction, she actually seems to be taking it in stride.]

And I don’t know if I want to know what happened to my D-board...
purrtagonist: (Can I take a rain-check on Valhalla?)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-28 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
[he's got it, he's got it!]

Is that the hover board you were riding on the other day?

I don't see it anywhere. . .
latebluemer: (バサッ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm.

[A quick little wave of her hand, a flash from amongst her fingers, annnnd....

Ta-dah, the D-board actually materializes next to her, all floaty-like. She clambers onto it somehow without disturbing the pile too much.

Hella pile Jenga going on here.]

Now, where have you been?

[Talking... to the board, patting it down a little.]
Edited 2018-11-28 03:12 (UTC)
purrtagonist: (I should probably roll for Georgia)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-28 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[oh]

[that happened]

[. . . yeah okay]

Nice. That's impressive.
latebluemer: (あら)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
[She’s just going to... come down a bit and then hover a little above the ground.]

It’s a good board. I just never thought I’d be using it... like this.

[Actually, on second thought, she scoots a little further from the pile. She might help people out later but for now... she’s escaped!]
purrtagonist: (I cast Sticks to Snakes on the campfire)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-28 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[congratulations Aoi!!]

What do you usually use it for?
latebluemer: (えっ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Victory fanfare!!]

For duels. We ride the wind. I guess it is a pretty limited use...

[It was pretty fun, though. And now she has a pet hoverboard.]
purrtagonist: (attach his upper half to the car)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-28 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Duels?

[well, now he's bemused]

What kind of duels? . . . hoverboard duels?

[now imagining her dueling western style on a hoverboard. TEN HOVERS AND SHOOT]
latebluemer: (いいでしょう)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Card duels.

[She's holding up a finger 'cause she knows what you're thinking, young man! She assumes you're not thinking of like, fantasy sword duels unlike some fantasy sword dudes around here, but she's been here long enough that she knows she has to explain it properly. To a certain extent.

So she gently taps the screen set in a flowery frame strapped to her wrist. The duel AI in it bleats out a Good morning, Blue Angel because it's a good little AI friend.

A little halo of blue light appears around her wrist and she... straight up just snags a card out of it. Because that's what duel disks are for! If Akira tries to touch it, his fingers will go through it, because holograms, man.]

Like that.

[From the makers of card games on motorbikes, we bring you: card games on hoverboards.]
purrtagonist: into a sliiiiiightly hotter version of myself (I use Mask of Many Faces to turn myself)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-28 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[. . . what]

Holographic card games on hoverboards.

The future is an interesting place.
latebluemer: (えっ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Have a definite laugh with that one. Yeah, it sounds so funny when you put it that way, and when she remembers how seriously they all take it. Sometimes, it's just card games on hoverboards. Other times, though...]

Oh, you don't know the half of it. But I like the hoverboards, you know? It makes for a good show.

[See: idol.]
purrtagonist: in a different colored sweater (And out of each box runs a chicken)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-28 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
And a good show matches your. . . performer aesthetic.

[yeah, he definitely gets idol vibes from her]

If you're going to be dramatic, you might as well go all out.
latebluemer: (DEF: みんな 行っちゃうよー)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-28 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
You got it! ☆

[Can you hear the star? Can you see the sparkle? This is probably the first time she's really pulled out her show persona, and it's really only for that moment, but eh, why not.]

I'm definitely not the only performer up there, but I'm definitely one of the best.

[The explanation is a little more sober, because the days when she was just a pure performer actually feel like a long time ago all of sudden. Between all the bullshit here and all the bullshit back home she'd almost forgotten what she started out as. Hmm. Anyway!]

We're all pretty dramatic, I'll admit.
purrtagonist: (Can I dodge the forcefield)

[personal profile] purrtagonist 2018-11-29 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't being dramatic part of the job description?

[but he says that with good humor, knowing that he absolutely isn't one to talk]
latebluemer: (思い知らせてやる!☆)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-30 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
It's so much a part of the job description that even the amateurs are getting in on it!

[Like seriously, Playmaker is not getting paid for his shit. She's not sure about the Knights of Hanoi; maybe as a villain organization, they have a drama playbook or something? HR policy?

Anyway, she hasn't seen Mr. Satan at his full dramatic glory, but it's only a matter of time with a title like that.]

What do you think? Does it make you want to start playing card games?

[Totally joking. Until Nanashi creates Duel Monsters: SCP Edition.]
