WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

I think we should consider that. You'd have to ask the person who found the note for more details, but... if there's anyone or anything here that can help us, then I don't want to overlook them.

[She shakes her head and doesn't pursue it for the moment. They can argue about the thing when they have more information, obviously. Other than that...]

I think no matter what, we're being monitored. But it's... hard to tell what we can say, with the staff the way they are.

[Like, probably Kohaku's over in the background stabbing people or something?? It's pretty chaotic around here right now.]

[For whatever reason, he figures this kid is one of the more reasonable ones, and might have noticed.]

[At the very least, she's one of the ones who knows enough tech to have noticed, and it's something she's been watching out for ever since, well. Ever since the staff have started popping up unannounced in the middle of conversations and whatnot.]

I haven't. Not any that I recognize, or any other kind of surveillance, but... they might have technology we've never seen before. They can definitely hear us.

[Snake gives his a look over.]

You think they’re monitoring what we do on here?

I'd be surprised if they weren't. It's the easiest way to keep track of us that isn't security cameras.

We have to be careful of what we do on them, then.

[He hopes that she’ll take that as an instruction.]

I’ll see if I can find any hidden cameras while I’m here, too.

[Whoops, but with backdated flavor. Look, she's from an era where kids messing with electronics is as natural as breathing.]

They're pretty limited machines right now.

[But not if they poke them a little. Maybe.]

Are you good at finding hidden cameras?

[He cocks his head slightly.]

Oh. Come to think of it... what is your job?

[It doesn't occur to her, usually, to be too inquisitive about someone's job because... she doesn't deal with a lot of adults on a regular basis apart from her brother.]

No. They'd at least tell me if it was.

[The Colonel could be a bastard at times, and was one to withold details, but Snake believes that he'd at least be told what he's supposed to do here.]

I can't link up with any network at all, with my duel disk or anything else, apart from the one in here. I think other people are running into the same thing.

[Which isn't to say she's doubting that he wasn't contacted, just that they're in the mountains and most probably, even if Snake's people wanted to talk to him -- it would be hard to impossible.]

[She taps a little at her wrist. There's a floral-framed screen there, small and sleek, and a tinny AI voice that responds: Hello, Blue Angel. The way it usually does when she disturbs it. There's a number of functions and buttons, but it's of a fairly simple design.]

It's used mostly for dueling, but it has pretty good network capabilities, since it has to connect to Link VRAINS, too. That's the virtual reality I came from.

[There are SO many words here he just doesn't understand the context for.

So, starting with something simple but not so much.]

You come from a virtual reality? What, did you wake up from a simulation?

... I guess you could say that? I still don't really know if I woke up or if something else happened.

[Just going to casually indicate... her all of her.]

This isn't what I look like, when I'm awake. At all.

What do you really look like, then?

Hmm, brown hair and brown eyes? Short hair. Pretty normal.

[She really can't think of that many other adjectives to describe herself back home. She was a pretty low-key person overall and she was fine with that. The reason Blue Angel can be so loud and out there is because she has her own turf.]

Huh. Why'd you choose the getup?

[She's quiet for a moment.

It's debatable whether telling the truth would be embarrassing or just unfortunate here? Hm.]

I always liked the design. And I wanted something memorable.

[Attention-grabbing. Something you couldn't ignore.

Well, she managed all of that in spades, so it's a pretty successful avatar, all in all.]

Huh. It works well. [...] You don't have to be bright blue to be memorable, though.

Haha. Well, since it's a virtual reality -- everything is more colorful, you know? The avatars, the scenery, the game design. You have to work harder to stand out like that.
