WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

As for the Monsters, what you're saying is that even if nobody wanted to kill each other, it could happen. That's how they're going to get their twisted game going. Am I on the right track?

The staff gave me that name, and honestly? I don't feel like I can give my name out safely right now.

I'm a ghost. I asked the staff if they could give me an easy way to communicate with all of you.

It's pretty hard to see a bunch of people come in who can't hear you, especially after 6 months of being alone.

Not going to answer my other questions, huh? You did say that the staff were the ones who gave you a way to communicate. I don't know how they could do that, but...

[They really like flaunting their technology here, don't they? If they can pull her avatar from Link VRAINS, she's almost inclined to believe this ghost in the machine stuff.]

You said this was for the Monsters' benefit. How do they benefit?

I think they'll be getting a way to feed. They haven't eaten anything since I've been here.

[Good eye - he absolutely dodged questions.]

People have been telling me the rats eat people. Is that what the Monsters do, too? Or are they feeding on something else?

[If A, then there's an easy logical link to be made. The rats are the masterminds?? If B, though, especially given that the Apprentice has already implied that the Monsters can do something to their bodies... well, that's a lot worse. It's probably B, come to think of it, with their luck.]

I...don't know. I don't know a lot about the monsters - I just know they exist.

[Hmm. Well, either way they'd have to be careful of the rats. She really doesn't want to think about rats mind-controlling people on top of all the other crazy shit that was just dumped on them. Sigh.]

So... if you're not part of the staff, and not a Monster, why are you telling us this? Are you involved?

I don't want to see people die.

It was hard enough seeing all of you without being able to interact. I don't want others to go through this, too.

... Wait. If we die, are we going to be trapped like you?

...Most likely.

But I'll be here to help anyone who does die. I won't let them be alone like I was, trust me.

[There's a long pause while she digests this, turns it over and over and looks at it without really seeing it.

Because it hits a little close to home, doesn't it? And here, without her real body somehow, even more so.]

I understand. You're watching, like they are, aren't you? What else can you tell us?

Watching is all I can do, really.

[That seems a little bitter...]

What else do you want to know? If it's about the Resort, I can tell you that Things didn't used to be this bad in here.

[She's genuinely not sure if it's worse being able to watch or not, but she doesn't bring it up right now. That's not important.]

That's a start. What was it like... before?

[She's thoughtful now, remembering a conversation from earlier in the meeting. Things definitely changed at this resort recently. And the catalyst was, well...]
