WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

It was in one of the books in the restaurant. They were sitting on one of the tables.

What kind of book was it?

They were pretty strange books.

I remember one of the titles was something like "How Not to Chase Everyone You Love Away". I'm not sure how relevant it is... it just stuck with me because it was an odd title for a book.

But the book with the note in it did have some writing in the back--that it belonged to Nue...?

[ There's a bit of a pause as she glances away, feeling almost called out for a fraction of a second. She kind of sighs, rubs the bridge of the nose and just. ]

Nue. Someone actually named their kid after a youkai.

[messianic]

Or it was a real one... though I can't think of any stories where a nue was writing things.

[MINATO...]

Do nue stay in resorts in the modern day...?

[dereban]

... I don't want to run into the nue.

[ She says those words rather nonchalantly before shrugging. ] Hell if I know. I've never met one.

[messianic]

[nue problems here.]

... Right. It was just a thought, anyway. I'm sure we won't be running into any actual youkai here.

[He is not sure about that.]

[dereban]

If we do.

[ She places a hand on his shoulder. ] I'll be counting on you to distract it.

[messianic]

[oh my god.

Minato blinks...

And nods solemnly.]

If a nue appears, I'll distract it with everything I have.

[what a loser]

I believe in you, solider. Don't get yourself killed.

[ It's clear that she's not being serious about this. ]

[messianic]

[It is very clear. It's probably a little less clear that Minato is also joking, because deadpan is his usual expression...but he is.]

I will take my new youkai shield duties very seriously.
