WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

It's... not really like hide and seek. At all.

Mmm. I suppose that's what it means, if you wish to simplify it. But the game of "Mafia" is significantly more... cerebral, than hide and seek. For one thing, you don't know who's "it".

[ She doesn't know what cerebral is but she'll just nod along like she does. She does understand the rest of it though! ]

Isn't that cheating? They could hide with the rest of us and boom! Bang! We're dead.

[ That's kind of rude. ]

Exactly, my dear. That's why it's so much harder. You'll never know the wolf among the sheep -- until you can start narrowing things down.

Hmm. How do we narrow it down? Is there a mark or something on them?

[ There should be ]

Maybe we can ask the Staff for a hint? They seem really nice!

No. You see, when the "night" is over, those who are dead will have their roles revealed. Then, you can narrow it down.

Ooooh. But there's a lot of us. A lot of people will have to be out before we can narrow it down.

[ That's even more unfair :( ]

Indeed. But, that is the way the game is played.

Then maybe we should write our own rules. There's nothing that says we can't do that, right?

That, you would likely need to run by our gracious hosts.

...I'm kinda afraid to ask about the sorts of games you're used to.

We usually play war or tag.

That... isn't quite what I was getting at. I mean, you've never been threatened into it before, have you?

Does it count if it's a sibling?

That'd... probably depend on how serious they were? Or what they actually threatened you with.

Only Sicey threatened me seriosuly! Haha. She does that with everyone though, but she actually likes us.

Well, as long as you're both alright with it... [Probably. He doesn't miss that mention of 'everyone', though.]

Yeah, I have eleven! We're all in Class Zero together with Remski and Machy!

[ Hey hey Rean, some of this might hit close to home for another Class he might know of. ]

[It sure does. He did have a skim over the profiles but it's not like he knew all the details by heart, so...]

Class Zero, huh... Haha. That's kind of a weird coincidence. [But his smile seems pretty fond as he continues on.] I don't know if it's anything like yours, but I was part of something called Class VII, myself.

Oh! You have Classes like that, too? [ It's actually pretty exciting for her. ]

What's yours like? Were you guys like a family, too?

Yeah. Thors Military Academy, Class VII. We're... [There's a considering pause.]

...I guess you could call us family, yeah. We might not have known each other that long, but we've been through a lot together, even if it took some time for to work out the differences between us. ...Although there's a couple of us that'll probably need a little more time with that. [There's a fond smile on his face as he says that, though.]

You know they are probably joking about the dead part. They mean out of the game, riiiight?
