WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

[ Ah, it's her. He looks over with a slight shrug. ]

There are a lot of things here that I never even saw in any of the worlds I've been to. I guess you could say I got curious.

[ No, you couldn't just say that; that's actually what happened, Vanitas, jeez. ]

[Tsumugi nods.]

That makes sense.

[She doesn't have much of anything to do today, and seeing his reactions to things certainly won't be boring.]

Well, if you want anything explained, just ask, alright?

[ He's going to be quiet for a moment... There have been a few tugs at his gut - he can't explain it, but it's kind of like she knows more than she's letting on, even if that would be ridiculous. Hm.

Asking someone to explain something, though... is not something he's used to. It's only ever been Master Xehanort, and that guy made him. There was always a firm tug to obey him, even if he didn't have to listen to it. ]

Doubt I'll need anything explained... since it all seems pretty self-explanatory, here.

[ Sort... of??? Yes, a lot of the stuff he just pulled out is instant stuff. Yes, a lot of it is step-by-step instructions right on the packaging. But... Guess who's never so much as tried something spicy. He's always had simple foods that he could afford. He's holding up some noodles in a cup. ]

It's all just a matter of adding water and heating it up, according to a lot of these...

Yeah... I guess you'll be fine as long as you follow all the instructions.

[Tsumugi looks at the cup noodles in surprise. Ah, the trademark food of shut-ins everywhere.]

You're right, cup noodle is plain simple to make. It's like the starting skill on a cooking skill tree.

[She walks over and grabs her own cup noodle. She probably doesn't need to worry about Vanitas starting a fire with this as long as he doesn't make the mistake of putting it in the microwave.]

[ Fortunately, he's going to actually read it one more time before he gets started on this thing. As he's getting this going: ]

Skill tree...?

[She'll hang around to make sure no fires are started then. She wants to make her own cup noodle any way.]

It's a video game mechanic. You start out with only one plain skill, and as you level up and put experience into it, you unlock other skills.

[ Huh. ]

Video game...?

Umm...

[She's honestly not sure how to adequately explain them.]

Well... It's a game, but digital. You can press buttons and make your character move and- Well, no that doesn't apply to all games... Umm... movies but interactive? No, that doesn't apply to text based games... Umm...

[There's no good way to explain them really.]

It's easier to show than to explain. I can let you play some on my computer after we make Cup Noodle, Vanitas-kun. I think I have a few fighting and action games on there that you'd like.

[ He studies her for a moment....... ]

... Sure. I've got nothing better to do.

[You can see the sparkles in Tsumugi's eyes at his agreement.]

Alright! I'll explain anything if needed... but there's tutorials for a reason, so you should be fine.

[With that said, Tsumugi eagerly begins preparing her own cup noodle. The sooner they get this done, the sooner she can show Vanitas the wonder of video games.]

[ He's blinking at the excitement... That isn't something he entirely expected, even with how... friendly she's been to him since he got here (which is still strange, in itself).

With that, he's going to finish preparing his cup to just... sit.

Uneventful. ]

So, what... kind are you planning to show me?

[ Finding the right wording is hard when you have very little to go off of! Especially in this case, where he'd never so much as heard of them before. ]

Hmm... either a fighting game or action game would appeal to you the most. Maybe Skullgirls for the former and one of the Devil May Cry games for the latter? Or... you might like Monster Hunter World, with all the monsters to hunt in it.

[A hum. It's clear Tsumugi is thinking deeply on this.]

Yeah... I think any of those would appeal to you.

Monster Hunter World? A game about literally hunting monsters?

Yeah! You hunt them and can make weapons and armor out of the materials you harvest from their bodies. You'll need to kill your way up the food chain... unless you want to challenge yourself, I guess.

[But then you miss out on all the cool armor and weapons.]

[ Huh...

Vanitas' expression isn't going to do much for hiding his interest for a moment. ]

Let's do that one.

Alright!

[Once she finishes her cup noodle, Vanitas' hand is being grabbed and excitedly tugged toward Tsumugi's room.]

It's a plain big game, so it'll take you a while to complete it... so umm... come by whenever you want to play more.

[ Oh...

He looks down at their hands for a moment, but he doesn't fight being tugged along. There's no response until after they've finally stopped moving. ]

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what you mean by all of that.

[ Vanitas doesn't get this video game wording, okay. ]

That's probably for the best!

[The door to Tsumugi's room is opened and Vanitas' hand is released as Tsumugi goes to set up Monster Hunter World on her computer. Her room is full of figurines, manga, and assorted merchandise from various series. Feel free to poke around while she's setting up Vanitas, as long as you don't look under the bed.]

[ He's going to start poking around, then! Not aggressively - he's just going to be skimming the room with curiosity, for now. ]

They gave you an awful lot of stuff...

I'm not sure why... but I'm not complaining, you know?

[A satisfied hum as she finishes booting up Monster Hunter World. The start screen is on now.]

[ He's walking over to study said screen. ]

So... How does it work?

You can move the cursor on screen by moving the mouse.

[A gesture to the mouse.]

To click on things, you'll want to press down on the part right here.

[She points at the left mouse button.]

You can press buttons to make your character move, or make specific things happen. There's a tutorial later on to explain all that, but I'll help out during character creation, okay? Umm... for now though, just keep in mind that reading the text on the screen is important, so you don't get confused.

[The screen is currently saying Press any button. If he presses any buttons, it'll show the cursor, along with some options, one of which is Start Game.]
