WEEK 1 - MINGLE

WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

Hmm... That's true.

[It's not like she's unaware that she's jumping to some conclusions here, but more importantly -- have a confused tilt of her head as she parses the rest of his explanation, or analogy, which is about as helpful as her explaining Link VRAINS to him.]

But what are archaisms? Machines? Magic...?

[She's still a little reluctant to immediately call things magic -- she can also make her whip appear and disappear, after all. That's... something else? Maybe.]
relentlesslyonwards: (time to investigate.)

[Whoops... yeah, he probably could've explained that better.]

I'm pretty sure they're more like machines than anything else, although we don't really know much about how they work. They're basically automated weapons made by a secret society, distributed into the black market.

[So, really advanced technology, basically.]
latebluemer: (えっ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-30 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Shady teleporting secret weapons. Got it.

[She gives it some mock-thought this time, tapping her temple a little theatrically.]

Well, do you think you'd be able to recognize them if one came in a moose form?

[Of course she has no idea what they look like. This whole thing is just ridiculous and feeling more ridiculous the more she thinks about it.]
relentlesslyonwards: (or MAYBE we could not do something dumb)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-11-30 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Uh. [Okay well. That wasn't exactly the question he was expecting when he mentioned those things...!]

They definitely look a lot more mechanical than the moose did, that's for sure. [...] Still, there's nothing saying I can't try to find it some other time to double-check. And even if it's not an archaism itself, maybe it has a similar sort of mechanism on it somewhere.

[He kind of doubts it but hey.]
latebluemer: (いいでしょう)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-11-30 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Have a bit of a laugh, goodness.]

It's okay, I was mostly kidding. I'm not sure you should go looking for a moose, especially when normal moose are already dangerous enough. This is a mountain, you know? If you get trampled out there, it'd be really hard to find you.

[Unless you explode the mountain like some idiots out there, but since we're in backdated land only the meta can be snarky about it.]
relentlesslyonwards: (i have this. don't worry.)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-12-01 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
Haha... I guess I missed that one.

But it's okay. I was kind of planning on finding it again, to be honest. And while this might not be my backyard or anything, Dad's taken me on enough hunting trips that I have a pretty good idea of how to avoid trouble with wild animals.

[countdown to when he ends up dead provoking a teleporting moose]
latebluemer: (バサッ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-02 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Actually... if what Granz-san says is correct, the moose might be a guest? He said it signed the guest book.

[She'd really like to take it as a joke, but given the rest of what was said about the guestbook she's left shaking her head. There's just no escape from this place and its strangeness.]

So this is one time when I'd see if the staff know how to deal with it. They seem to have ways to deal with the other guests here aside from us.
relentlesslyonwards: (huh. that's a pretty good point.)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-12-02 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods.] That also checks out with how it looked like it was heading back in the direction of the resort before it disappeared.

[The staff though, huh...]

Do you have something in mind?
latebluemer: (バサッ)

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-05 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
You can call for the staff using your tablet through the resort's network. I haven't tested exactly how far it extends, but if the moose was going toward the building--

[That's a nice and reassuring thought......]

--You can have the staff ask them questions and all that. I think.

[It's certainly better than having this guy haring off by himself to try and tame a moose of unknown quantity.]
