WEEK 1

You've found a safe haven from the wind and the snow - yet, perhaps you're not quite out of danger yet. The Resort Staff are odd, but seem harmless - jumping to any whim you might have, if it doesn't make them oddly lock up.

The weather all week is perfect - the perfect temp and snow for plenty of skiing. The firepit in the courtyard is always lit too, with ingredients for smores and hot chocolate always available in the lobby. Though...in the halls, a strange bunch of songs keep playing from the hotel's sound system. Is whoever runs this place a weird cover song enthusiast?

So far, everything seems fine....but there's a weird sense of unease lingering over the Resort as everyone wakes up Monday Morning. Maybe that has something to do with that strange memory that popped in your head when you woke up? Or maybe it's that all of you woke up in the middle of a snowstorm, with no memory of how you got there?

In the end...even though everything should be fine, why does it feel like this is only the prelude to a nightmare...?

I don't know that I have much knowledge, but I do play the piano sometimes.

They didn't happen to give you one in your room or anything, did they?

[ Playing 'sometimes' is not exactly a promising portfolio, but please... other musicians... ]

No... It's a shame there isn't one here in the lobby, either.

[ That seems like the sort of thing an upscale hotel should have. She's like 95% sure that's been a thing in some of the old late-night movies she's seen. ]

Were you interested in playing something together if I had one?

Yeah. If this weird silence effect this place added to my violin also affected other members of an ensemble, I'd be in trouble.

[ So this is mostly a test, but also... ]

I'm used to playing in a group anyway.

[ "Silence effect"? She never got close enough to notice. ]

Is that what that grey space was?

It's what I'm calling it, anyway. Considering it's never happened before coming here, I couldn't tell you what it actually is.

[ Other than an invasion of privacy - how dare anyone just add abilities to him?? ]

[ That kind of sounds awesome tbh, though yes, she can see how that would be a problem for a musical group... ]

You could still hear yourself, though, right?

Yeah, thankfully. The music's the only sound that remains.

[ And with a grin: ] At least that erases noisy audience problems forever.

[ Smiles, SHE AGREES that part sounds appealing... not necessarily for audiences so much as for Everyone In General ]

Maybe you could actually use it as an exercise in how to better attune your playing to the others in your group by picking up on other cues.

[dolleyed]

[ Huh. He goes silent for a second, contemplating. ]

Never thought of that... Are you sure you're only casually into music?

[ She nods. ]

Mm. I've played duets from time to time, though.
