MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

No, not at all. But they cling to life. It is a little beautiful.

[She sounds both appreciative and a little nonplussed about it.]

I suppose... even in dangerous times like that, people might want to celebrate something.

You have to keep up your spirits somehow.

Certainly. Holidays are a celebration of the passing of time, and so of life. Regardless of the holiday, that is somewhere at its root.

[Or maybe she's just a weird sort of optimist in a weird sort of world.

She seems plenty convinced of it, though.]

Valentine's Day more than most, I should think.

Love is an important thing to celebrate! Having someone so close who would support you through difficult times... I can see why it would be nice to make a day about it in a dying world as well.

My creator was someone who talked to us about love on his own terms. I'm not sure if he celebrated this particular holiday, himself, but it could be a little challenging for all the robots to understand.

[They're good robots, though. They worked hard to understand Creatorese. Probably.]

Is it something you like to celebrate, too?

Well, I never had a girlfriend or anything, buuuuut I always ended up with a bunch of chocolates.

[Heheheh.]

In this case, chocolate means popularity, doesn't it? I can see why.

[It's the face-- Okay no, she figures it's not hard for humans to want to throw chocolates at him, if only to bulk him up a bit. Wait.]

Pretty much. My friend and I kind of had a reputation at school.

[He laughs a bit at it, but there's some melancholy in there, too.]
