All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

Well, I mean my wife is in the picture, and Valentine's Day might just lead to more kids, right?

[Which. Which one is the wife. She's having a little trouble here, and it's showing in the deepening frown on her face. She's not entirely sure this guy is human, come to think of it.]

Of course, but are all these children from your marriage?

No, actually. I just had my first biological child right before coming here.

[He points to the frog woman]

This is my wife. Then Gobumi (the goblin), Harpiko (the harpy), Kuneka (the spider) and Taddy (the muscle frog). Taddy is her son from her first marriage.

[Oh, thank god.]

I didn't know... humans... were compatible with other species.

[Honestly, she wouldn't have been completely surprised at this point if he said he'd popped out all the kids himself. You just never know, on this island. Also see: advanced technology and robotics life.]

But they look like wonderful children.

Honestly, I might not be human anymore. Being the Overlord probably changes things, but I never really had anyone to ask.

[That is still a little funny to think about, which is probably why she's emphasizing it a little bit.]

I've been called the Black Demon, so maybe that. I prefer Takashi, or 'oh god not him, run away-!'

You're not the only one here calling himself a being of darkness. I see.

[Like dad, like adopted edgy goth son, apparently.

She's just mentally filing them in the same folder in her head, except Takashi seems considerably more put together. It isn't hard.]

Eh, I don't buy that whole 'light and darkness' shtick. I'm well past my chunni stage.

Though 'the Sun Named Moon'... that's pretty fancy.

It's a common title that was given to me -- I don't remember how it began. But I suppose everyone needs a little bit of light.

[There's something both ironic and cheeky in the way she says it, very lightly, like the faintest dusting of snow.

There's the smallest smile, there and gone.]
