MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

Not at all, listening to one another and sharing our experiences is how we grow. If we limit ourselves to one perspective, we miss out on something fundamental. [ She smiles back softly. ]

As Oracle, it is my role to guide those lost in the dark. I cannot claim to be a leader, although... I am not blind to the small amount of influence I wield.

I accepted my duty long ago and all that it entails. There are so many who suffer in my world, more than only my hands can reach. Yet I wish to reach out, to aid all in whatever way I can no matter how difficult it may be. [ A pause before she tilts her head up. ]

Well, it's been awhile since he hasn't screwed things up. But, he's trying to still pick up the pieces, so it's not unwelcome. ]

It's been awhile since I've heard someone call me anything like that, but it's still nice to hear it.

[ As...awkward sounding as it comes out, he doesn't want to just disregard the words. ]

I hope when you return you're able to continue doing what you were. [ ... ] Are there any other Oracles in your world or is it just you?

[ She's heard worse. Noctis, even as a boy, was as awkward as they come. Hearing him like this actually puts a soft smile on her face. ] ... Thank you.

And unfortunately, I am the only one. The power of Oracle only passes to those with the blood of House Fleuret.

[ That's interesting. So it's a bloodline thing...he doesn't live in medieval times but he's been to places with royalty (...and is well-acquainted with one thanks to King Mickey!!) ]

Then, only one person at a time from your "house" can be an Oracle?

My mother served as the Oracle before me. Had things been different, I suppose we could have shared the burden—and in doing so, saved many more lives. But sometime after she passed, her duties fell to me alone.

You could not have known. Besides, my life has been an open book to the world since I was a girl, I am... accustomed to speaking of what happened to my mother.

[ And here he thought that royalty wouldn't have their lives for all prying eyes to see, but...then again, he supposed it made sense. ]

[ The other option was 'help from another nation' but at the same time the chances for that were dim considering the terminology used. ]

But we needn't broach such an odious topic. I've told you much about myself and the star I come from. It would be my honor to listen to you speak of your home in return.

I come from a place called Destiny Islands, so I'm actually used to this kind of setting--docks and a beach. Though, there's not many mansions there and it's nothing really special, I'd say I'd pick my home over this place any day.

[ Hah. ]

I'm certain there is something special about it, even if it isn't obvious at a glance. [ Hmm... docks and a beach. ]

Is there much fishing on your island?

There was this cave that I used to go into with my friends, but it was typical kid stuff. You know, places like that secret hideouts.

[ And then Riku remembers getting jealous over stupid stuff with Sora that he's not gonna mention, nope. ]

I'd say there's been some fishing on the main island, but on the one I hang out on with my friends, not so much. [ ... ] There's been a time where we did try to build a raft, but that never panned out too well before I left the island for awhile.

Those precious moments are special in their own way.

[ A small smile. What a simple luxury... But when he moves on, so does she. ]

It is a shame to hear you hadn't done much fishing, I would have liked to hear tales of the fish around your island. [ Noctis loves fishing so. Would have been nice to get stories for him. ] Though it sounds like you had your hands full with other interests. You truly built a raft?

There's probably some tales hanging around somewhere about someone catching some kind of large fish on the main island, but...that stuff never really interested me.

Something like that. It took awhile since one of my friends who was supposed to help out tended to be kind of on the lazy side.

[ Sora was such a lazybones back then, but it's definitely a fond thought that's come back to him, and maybe it's evident in his tone. ]

It may not be a hobby that appeals to everyone. I'm told there's much waiting involved, I can see how some may find that tiring.

[ Evident enough to someone who pays attention to this kind of thing. ]
