MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

[ The painting wasn't exactly as charming as she might've thought, or at least that's what Riku thinks. He still is wary of dem witches, man.

Feel...? I feel like she's probably what you could expect of a really bored person with a lot of power. And the only way we'll get out of this is by being super entertaining for her.

[ And, apparently, she's entertained by a game involving death.

But... hm. ]

What do you think about everything she said about this game?

I don't feel like entertaining someone just because they feel bored.

[ A grating thought to him for sure. He has places to be, but all the same he'd be grateful if none of this turned deadly. Speaking of which... ]

I don't think she's trying to kill everyone or anything, but it's hard to believe that everything is going to be as harmless as she's said it would be.

[ He gives a small smirk, a hint of amusement there. ]

The stubborn type, huh?

[ But, that's a fair point, clearly. He shakes his head, shrugging one shoulder. ]

What do you plan to do about it, then?

[ Riku opens his mouth, about to protest but then remembers the entirety of KH1 and how Sora had to twist his arm rather recently not to be stupid about something. So he thinks better of it. ]

...Something like that. But, you'd feel the same, don't you?

[ He is unsure of that, though. He doesn't know Vanitas well enough to judge. ]

I'm going to look into it, find a way to have our abilities returned to us, and make sure we all get out of this in one piece. Whether or not she's telling the truth about this 'game' of hers.

That's an awfully big goal to take on by yourself, don't you think? Not gonna team up with some friends, or something?

[ Isn't that what you friend-maker types do? ]

[ Riku has just barely gotten out of his loner tendencies. ]

I'm not exactly friends with anyone here.

[ Though he sounds...unsure of that. But he's not Sora, and not thinking that he's made friends immediately in just a few days, even if he does like some people here. Vanitas included, he supposes. ]

If anyone wants to come along to help, they can. But I'm not going to force them.

[ He lifts his eyebrows. ]

[ Now he's shrugging his shoulders. ]

I could see most of the people here being willing to follow a guy like you.

He's not feeling a little bashful, nope. Still, he's repeating the words in his head again, feeling himself almost smile again. ]

Guess I should be thankful if you're thinking that.

People crave stability during chaos, and you've clearly got a calm head on your shoulders.

A small laugh escapes him, but it's hardly mocking. It's soft and genuinely amused if anything. A smile even makes it way...it's too bad shit is about to go to hell for a bit between these two. ]

It's good someone thinks so. [ ... ] You're a little rough around the edges, but you're not a bad person to speak with, Vanitas.

[ Isn't it, though? Things could have been Way Different between them, if Vanitas hadn't been rolled, tsk tsk. ]
