MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

Yeah. Pretty easy to guess, wasn't it?

[ In a way, Riku is comforted by the knowledge of another Keyblade Wielder here, since he's assuming the same of Vanitas. And...though he recalls Vanitas' earlier interesting impression he's made, Riku's sure it's not like it's impossible for them to work together. Someone he could likely end up relying on, and vice versa. ]

[ He's quiet, studying the other guy's face for a moment... ]

Yeah.

[ For the moment, he's calm as he asks, genuinely curious: ]

How long have you been one?

[ When he hears that, well...he can't help but be honest, a slight smile on his face. ]

I'd say...two or three years by now. It hasn't been easy, but I'm sure you know the feeling.

[ But of course, Riku's curious about Vanitas too. So it's only natural he asks the same question. ]

What about you?

[enter_the_darkness]

[ There's something briefly distant in his gaze at that mention of it having not been easy. The faint smirk on his lips leaning more towards bitter than amused. ]

Five years, give or take.

[ He folds his arms over his chest, looking towards the middle distance for a moment. ]

Do you like it? ... Being a Keyblade wielder.

[ Far...longer than he or Sora have been. Now, that's curious.

But, oh well. They met up now, so that has to count for something, right? On the other hand, the question does give him more to think about. About whether or not he does like being a Keyblade Wielder. It's...hmm. ]

... Yes and no.

At first, I'd thought I had it all figured out, but I learned the hard way that I'd had a long ways to go. Still do.

[ ... ]

And you? Do you enjoy it?

[ ... There's a long moment of silence from him before he answers. And it's such a short one, but there's some definite weight to each word, even as he manages to keep his tone nonchalant. ]

It gives me a purpose.

[ That's...not quite the answer he was expecting, and it makes a questioning look come across Riku's expression rather briefly. ]

...A purpose? What kind of purpose?

[ Just a smile that edges towards something mysterious - distant. ]

Survive 'til the end of this thing and maybe I'll tell you.

[ His brows knit together for a moment, and he wants to know, but he's just going to try to play it off cool so it doesn't seem like he really does... ]

Just a maybe? [ ... ] Either way, it shouldn't be too hard for me to make it to the end of this.

[ He's not going to make it easy for just anyone to kill him. ]

[ There's a small smirk. ]

Fine. I'll definitely tell you.

[ But, also? There's some intrigue at Riku's words, and a small grin of amusement surfaces. ]

A tough guy, huh?

[ Oh? Riku nods at those words, looking ultimately the same expression wise but he's gonna be filing that away for later (ha ha ha...) ]

I wouldn't say that; I'm not about to go around bragging I'm the strongest or anything. But, I'm capable enough to hold my own.

[ And he doesn't think he'd just let anyone in with him privately when it was most assuredly time for someone to act. Unless the person uh. Had Sora's face apparently so RIP. ]

[ He shrugs a shoulder. ]

I'll have to test it out sometime.

[ There's a vague wave of his hand. ]

On the beach, maybe. [ grin shifting back to a smirk ] If you think you're up for the challenge.

[ Riku still can't resist a challenge. That feels ultimately familiar, and his lips tug almost into a smile of his own, fond memories coming over his mind. ]

I'm always up for a challenge. Just name the time, and I'll be there.

[ Heh, well... That was easy! ]

So far, I've already got things I wanna do tomorrow and the day after. [ a beat ] I should be free after that, though. Maybe after lunch.
