MOCK ROUND - WEEK 1

All of the guests awoke in their rooms, just like they had before.

Yesterday had been a day of surprises.
First, they'd finally met the person who had brought them here.
Secondly, they'd learned they were going to be playing a false murder mystery for two weeks.
And most important, they learned that wishes could be granted if they won this game.🗈

Still, for now, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. Was the Witch already in talks with the 'Murderer'? Was the 'victim' already decided upon?

There was no way to know until some day later this week, apparently.

Still, it wasn't all bad. The island was beautiful and the climate just perfect for beachgoing, or taking a cosy walk in the garden. There were also board and card games which would be produced upon request, to help ease the boredom of it all.

Though, perhaps the guests would prefer to get to know each other instead? On maybe get into some trouble as they roamed the island.

Yet, with only a fake game in front of them....there's no proper sense of foreboding, is there?

....But maybe all of this...

...Is just the calm before the storm.

Offering me gifts? Acting like you're not bothered, at all, even when you can't even see my face? Being willing to shove something onto my head...?

We're strangers. [ faint smirk ] Yet, you didn't hesitate to touch me, at all.

... Granted, considering how forgiving you were at the fake murder attempt, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Does it really take innocence to do those sorts of things, though...?

[He hums thoughtfully, pulling out another rose from who knows where and holding it up to his lips.]

Mm, instead of "innocent," I think the better way to put it would be "friendly."

Those aren't exactly mutually exclusive terms, last I checked.

That's true! But you can still be "friendly" without being "innocent."

After all, all of us are here for a reason. And if we want to get the wish we desire, we have to play along.

[ He just waves a hand dismissively. ]

Last I checked, to get the wish, you have to win.

That's right. Which means you have to be ready to trick and sacrifice someone else.

[Even if the deaths weren't real, they're still blocking each others' wishes, in the end.]

[ ... Well, guess that's not a reaction he was expecting? He's just staring for a moment. ]

Yeah... Exactly.

Anyone who actually plays along with this game... I don't think they can be considered totally "innocent."
