WEEK 5 MINGLE

They said it was a break week, but two of your number were lost anyway last week. While you're all tired and still recovering, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.
"Attention, Guests. The game is back on. Break week is now over. Happy Holidays."
The Staff are still like they were last week - only this time, the orders almost always go wrong, if they even manage to go through - the Staff are vanishing constantly. Meals are also getting affected - they're still perfectly edible, but they're not as delicious as they once were, with seasoning and other things occasionally being off. The Sign warning people to not take knives is still on the kitchen door, but The Chef seems incredibly tired, often resting on a chair in the corner.
The Resort is still furnished with Holiday items - but after Medic's christmas protest, there are more items related to other holidays up, and it's much more balanced - objects and colors of multiple holidays side by side in harmony, with the mistletoe still up for any needed smooching. There are, however, more wriggling...things, and there's even an entire 'tree' made of eldritch tentacles with glowing balls of light on them that wink in an oddly hypnotic fashion.
The weather is still nothing, but the courtyard seems to have switched to a much warmer clime, which while still a little cool is pleasant enough to sit outside in. Finally, the music this week seems... almost ominous...?
On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone, one more traumatic this time instead of gentle like the others have been. Yet, you feel as if you know a little more about your time in this world, now. Not everything, but...enough.
Enough to see this game through to the end, at least.

[She just sounds kind of resigned to the boxpocalypse at this point, she might have asked this question last week but she did not also expect them to be relevant this week. Does the Resort just have a thing for boxes. Is this a building thing.]
BOX 8
A dice block? Something rattles around inside when she picks it up.]

Except for the part where she doesn't game with these. Maybe digital one. This doesn't help with box dice puzzles. Ummmm. Just going to try pressing through the various holes on the dice sides...?]

The dice block continues to rattle as she pokes all those holes, though.]

She stops for a moment and then rattles it around a bit. Is there anything helpful in the sound of the rattling? Is it different from when she's rattling it by poking it?
Once she's done with that, she'll try knocking on the sides instead. It feels ridiculous, but you know what. She's talked to a cookie monster and the building is married to rats, she's resigned at this point.]

Knocking on the sides does nothing, though.]

[She'll hold up the box and then try turning it so the ball thing clatters against the sides in the following order: 1, 2, and 3.
Maybe there's a combination lock thing going on here??]

More to the subject...it is a dice block. And when she was moving the dice, she was only focusing on the sides.]

Okay back to dice blocking or something. She's going to try turning it in different ways to see if anything happens. If that doesn't do anything, what about if she tries swinging it in big circles like winding up for baseball. We're throwing everything at the wall here. Figuratively. We're figuratively throwing this time.]

Back to more sedate tactics. She'll try rolling the dice some more and listen to see if the clattering changes any. But also: does anything else physical change about the dice block while moving it?? It seems pretty solid.
*Physics may refer to just abusing the poor puzzle, but it is also legit attempts!!!]

Anyway, as she rolls, she might notices that the ball clicks in a specific way depending on what pip is on top. It even does a nice click and slide when she turns it from 1 to 2, as long as she keeps those on top.]
no subject
If nothing else happens, she's going to start rotating it laterally while keeping one of those two on top...??]

Rotating the dice now so that the pips go on top in order from 1 through 6.]

The moment she gets to 6, the lid there is suddenly loose. Sliding it to the side will reveal the small compartment inside, with a button at the bottom.
Congrats! You've figured out the Karakuri Dice Block puzzle!]
