Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.



((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[ Not that she's exactly fond of the idea, evident in her voice, but she's trying not to sound angry or frustrated about it. ]

By the way, the guest list said that you like Yokohama. Are you from there too?

[ This is apparently the thing we're focusing on here. ]

[It's decidedly Not Great, but. Well. You can't fight nature. And honestly a little bit of time here isn't the end of the world. At least they found shelter.

And Yokohama is a safe conversation topic, so.]

It is, yes. I have lived there for about six years now. Even though I wasn't born there, I consider it home.

Are you from there as well?

[ Inaba tries her best to find safe conversation topics. Nevertheless, she smiles a little fondly at his question. ]

It's a pretty nice place. And... yeah, I am. Born and raised, actually. What exactly do you like about it, though?

[ Just out of curiosity. ]

It's a place where anyone can live. It doesn't matter who you were born to or the kind of life you have lived, you can find a place of your own there. There will always be at least one person there who accepts you for who you are.

I suppose that might be true of any city large enough, but...well, I suppose it's natural to be attached to your home.

[dereban]

"A place where anyone can live", huh.

[ There's a tinge of fondness in her own voice, but there's also something surprisingly melancholic there, too, even though she keeps her expression even. ]

I mean, that's pretty true. There's all types of people back in Yokohama. Hell, it's just a good place to live in general. Or visit.

Agreed. That's why I like the city so much.

[And why he helps protect it. Or he would be, if he weren't here.]

But I get the feeling we're pretty far away from there.

Yeah, this definitely does not look like any part of Yokohama that I've seen. It shouldn't even be snowing this time of year.

Exactly! The leaves should only just be starting to change color.

[dereban]

Yeah... they did give us a date in November, but I'm still pretty confused.

[moonlightbeast]

..November? But it's only September.

[dereban]

That's what the staff said. I remember it being September back home, too.

Did we somehow lose two months somewhere?

[They did probably get kidnapped and dropped off in the middle of nowhere, maybe they forgot those two months in that time?]

[dereban]

I. . . I'd like to hope not? I mean, they gave me a year in the future, so like. It's more than two months for me?

[moonlightbeast]

They gave you a...what?

[dereban]

They said the year was 2018. Last I remember, it was 2010.

[moonlightbeast]

[That.

Sure is a thing.]

E-eeeeeh?! But that's not the right year at all!

[dereban]

Which one, the former or the latter? ... Or both?

[moonlightbeast]

2010 is a lot closer.

That's good to know? I'd be kind of worried if I ended up having to hear something about my hometown by accident if someone was actually... from the future.

[moonlightbeast]

Even 2018 isn't far enough in the future for much to have changed though, right?

[dereban]

Probably not, but I would have graduated high school by then. Probably have a job. Maybe I'm famous.

[moonlightbeast]

It's possible! Who knows, maybe if it really is 2018 we can find some information about you somewhere, if you're famous.

[dereban]

I'll pass.

I don't want to change my future if that's going to happen.

[moonlightbeast]

You're not even a little bit curious?

[dereban]

I am, but there's the possibility that if I see it, I might change it and create a paradox.
