Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.
Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.
There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...
Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.
So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.
((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.
This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

I don't want to change my future if that's going to happen.

[Conflicting time travel theories ayyy]

[He would like to know his own future, but he can see why someone might not want to. He's had a front-row seat to how similar questions have destroyed people before.]
Hopefully you do get that future you would like.
no subject
[ Just flat out saying it with a shrug. ] What about you? What kind of future would you like?
no subject
Ah. Well.
I suppose I would like it if I had a well-paying job. Then I could eat anything I want without worrying about the cost.

[He says this like it should be obvious.]

[He probably does have other wishes, but. Well.
Talking about them is Suffering.]

I don't want to be famous, and I don't have a family or friends. So 'fame' and 'family' aren't priorities for me. And with those options removed, 'food' seems like a good choice.
[He says this matter-of-factly. He's not sad about his life, it just is what it is.]
no subject
[ She's just quiet for a moment, just staring at him dumbfoundedly for a second as if questioning something. It's in a way of 'did you just hear what came out of your own mouth'? ]
You do know that you could wish for friends, right. Living a life with no friends is even more sad than choosing food.
no subject
If I wished for it, they wouldn't be my friends of their own free will. And if they didn't choose it, could they really be called my friends?
no subject
[ She's just completely and utterly silent for a good moment. He's not wrong, but that's not what she meant, either. ]
Okay... [ Inaba is already regretting the words that are going to going to come out of her mouth. ] How about this, then? Since it's not a result of a wish and will be my own choice in the end, how about we learn a little bit about each other and, maybe-- I could become your friend? Maybe? I mean, we do live in Yokohama, the chances of us running into each other back home are there.
no subject
[C-CASUALLY GLANCING BACK DOWN AT HIS PROFILE ON HIS TABLET
AND THEN BACK UP AT HER]
N-not to discourage the friend-talk, but. Um. I'm pretty sure that if we ran into each other back in Yokohama, it wouldn't be a good thing.
[Please don't get involved with the mafia, Inaba.]
no subject
[ Now she feels like she's said something completely stupid, because she notices that he's looking at his profile and then something clicks in her head. ]
Is what it said actually accurate...? About 'dealings and bloody battles'.
[ She's been taking the profiles with a grain of salt in spite of them most likely being true. ]
no subject
[Fuck.]
I'm a bodyguard.
[Okay that's REALLY stretching the truth, but technically he protected Dazai sometimes? Technically???
He just. Doesn't even want to mention the word 'mafia'.]
I-it just would be bad for you to be in a situation where you needed one, that's all.
no subject
[ Is.
Is she serious about that. ]
But that's fine. There's always contacting through the internet, or by texting. And that's besides the point. I can at least get to know you a little better and try to be friends. Even if it ends up being long distance in the long run.
Maybe we should start with names? Since these don't exactly give real names. Well, mine is at least a little close to my actual name... it's Inaba. Inaba Himeko.
no subject
And really, he can't argue with her at least trying. Who knows, maybe they can be friends after all, at least for the time they are here at this resort.]
Mine is very different, and it's probably better to call me by my name anyway. Nakajima Atsushi.
no subject
She literally has no idea what she's doing. ]
I could tell. Some people got something normal and some got... I mean. Look at Kurusu's nickname, for crying out loud. [ She sighs. ] Do you have a preference for what you want to be called? Nakajima or Atsushi?
[ No honorifics because that's... how she is. ]
