Week 3: Sleepover with Karaoke!

[The weekend is ever-creeping towards them, which means it's time for another gathering -- this time in the newly-accessible second floor, which comes with some of the amenities of the first but better. The soft room is pretty much ideal for this sort of thing, and if there are any windows someone's probably hung a blanket against the void.

Extra kotatsu from long-ago sleepovers have been brought up, there are snacks and drinks scattered amongst the endless blanket nests and pillow forts, and karaoke and the animal cafe are just next door. They can choose to head out for those attractions or bring in the pet animals of the cafe if they'd like. Anything is possible if you believe.]

[Did someone say Karaoke?

Minato loves karaoke, so he is right here and ready for all of this, contrary to his typical deadpan, sleepy expression and existence. When he heads up there alone, he sounds a little something like this, don't mind how terribly dramatic that song is, he's definitely singing Disney and whatever else pops up on the screen... cutesy pop songs and rap are fair game, it's terrible.

However, just as likely, he'll just turn to you and:]

Do you want to sing together?

[this is the best thing.]

[ Roxas was kind of mostly watching everyone else...singing in front of people was kind of embarrassing, wasn't it? But then he hears that - ]

Huh? Why?

[messianic]

Because... it'll be fun, right?

[RIGHT?]

[ He thinks about it a little... ]

... If I'm not doing it alone, it might be fun. But, I guess we're going to need to pick a song where there's two people singing?

[messianic]

We could just sing the same lyrics together, too--I think it makes it a little less daunting that way, you know?

You've got someone who's covering for you.

I'll be counting on you then.

[ Then he'll look over at some of the songs listed on the karaoke machine. ]

What about something by this guy?

[ Roxas will then point at Jesse McCartney's name. ]

He's... an American singer, right?

[Huh...]

I'm fine with that. I can follow along, I think.

I've never been to America before, actually. [ Roxas knows it is a place that vaguely exists, because yeah. ] But, let's do this - on the count of one, two, three...go!

[ He'll put on Better With You.

Roxas hasn't ever sang those song before, though, so it's not as good as it could be if he had, realistically speaking. But it's not a difficult tune to follow. ]

[. . . as someone who missed Minato's rap battle with Yoshi: WHO KNEW MINATO COULD RAP??]

[he blinks slowly at the request, one brow arching high above his hairline]

Are you sure you're not going to regret asking me that question?

[Akira is not a bad singer, but he isn't great, either]

How could I regret it?

[With Akira, Minato doesn't hesitate to manhandle a bit more, so he's just grabbing Akira's hand to tug him towards singing.]

[well, this is happening!! truthfully there's very little resistance when Minato tugs Akira to his feet, and he stumbles forward towards the karaoke television]

Iiiii could shatter the windows. . .

They'll charge us extra for that.

[they're not being charged at all]

If you could do that, I'd be very impressed, Akira.

[PLS.]

Let's sing... something upbeat...

Something upbeat, hm?

[rocking back on his heels a bit, purposefully not tugging his hand away from Minato even though his grip is loose]

I'll leave the selection up to you.

[messianic]

Mm, okay.

[Then you are getting, the poppiest pop girl idol song you can think of, Akira.

Let's do this thing.]

[oh boy how he is going to hit these notes]

I'm not going to be any more ready if I wait.

[DETERMINED FACE]

[ She'll put her hand over his ]

[ This will be fun. ]

Let's do it, then. Any preferences on song, Cinque-san?

Hmm. Not really. Maybe something we can dance to?

Dance music, huh...? Most of the dance music I like doesn't really have lyrics, but I guess we can just pick something peppy.

[POP MUSIC IS GOOD FOR THAT!!

Minato picks one of the most upbeat songs he can pick out from first glance.]

[She's listening and clapping and bouncing along a little because, quite contrary to his manner, yes, the dude's got some verve and enthusiasm? Totally unexpected, musical taste notwithstanding. Despite her own appearance, she hasn't done a ton of karaoke that wasn't virtual, and definitely never in a group like this.

His invitation gets a small grin and an obliging tilt of her head.]

I didn't know you liked karaoke so much. I'm not sure I could keep up!

[She's definitely messing around, though.]

[Minato hums a little, picking up on the teasing air. It's kind of nice, really.]

I think you're being too humble. If anyone can keep up, somehow I'd think it's definitely you.

Haha, it's been a long time since I've been accused of being humble.

[It is kind of nice, just settling into the darkened karaoke area and enjoying the stage, and then the nearly blinding lights of the stage itself when she joins him there. It reminds her of what seems somehow a long time ago, the crowds and the excitement and all eyes on her when she was still just a Charisma Duelist. Nothing more complicated than that.

It had really all seemed like a much bigger deal at the time.

She picks up a microphone and raises her eyebrows at him.]

Duet or challenge?

[There's all kinds of ways to do this singing thing, after all.]

[Hmm... Minato looks contemplative at that. He'd really like doing a duet with her, because that's more his thing--

But...]

I kind of feel like I'll see more of the way you shine if I take you up on a challenge.

Well, karaoke isn't so much my turf. But it's a safe guess.

[She looks amused but also pleased at the same time, brightening a little -- almost subconscious, the result of anticipating competition and something to throw herself into despite all else. As for the song selection, well...]

So, how about this? Since you're the challenger, I'll let you pick the first song.

[It's actually debatable which of them is the challenger, but she's pretty sure that left to his own devices Minato would pick a different karaoke activity. That's the sort of guy he is. It's always a good idea to meet halfway.]
