Week 3: Sleepover with Karaoke!

[The weekend is ever-creeping towards them, which means it's time for another gathering -- this time in the newly-accessible second floor, which comes with some of the amenities of the first but better. The soft room is pretty much ideal for this sort of thing, and if there are any windows someone's probably hung a blanket against the void.

Extra kotatsu from long-ago sleepovers have been brought up, there are snacks and drinks scattered amongst the endless blanket nests and pillow forts, and karaoke and the animal cafe are just next door. They can choose to head out for those attractions or bring in the pet animals of the cafe if they'd like. Anything is possible if you believe.]

I'm not going to be any more ready if I wait.

[Minato's a filthy cheater who can hit those high notes... he'll cover for you, kouhai.

[Akira may not be able to hit those notes, but you know what? he is getting super into this, bouncing along with the music far too much for his own good]

[Holy shit.

Minato's so delighted that Akira's so into it. He's less into it, more focused on hitting the notes, but nonetheless the smile on his face when the song comes to a close is...really, really bright.]

You're the best.

[purrtagonist]

[they balance each other out!! it totally works. Akira even does a twirl and a stupid pose at the end. HE'S HAVING FUN]

[when the song cuts off, he lets out a breathless whew and takes a bow]

I wouldn't say the best, but that was the most fun I've had in a while.

[messianic]

That was really, really fun.

[Aaaaah... he's still lowkey buzzing, grabbing Akira's hand and swinging it lightly between them.]

Karaoke with the people you care about is the best. It's a fact.

[purrtagonist]

[cute. . . grins fondly a little bit, allowing his hand to be swung side to side as much as Minato wants]

You know, I never actually found a suitable place to do karaoke in Tokyo.

[even though there were probably PLENTY of karaoke bars]

[A little sheepishly, he admits:]

No matter where I moved to, that was always one of the first things I looked for...ever since I was a kid.

[purrtagonist]

Is it?

[huh. . .!]

You make it sound like karaoke is one of your favorite pastimes.

[messianic]

Is that weird?

[It is!]

I like music... I like singing, and playing instruments, and listening to music. Karaoke is a nice way to share that with friends.

[purrtagonist]

It's not weird.

[music and karaoke is a valid interest!!]

I saw you wear those headphones around, but I never knew you really liked music that much.

[messianic]

[Minato just twirls a wire around his finger idly.]

Yeah... I do. It's...comforting, I guess you could say.

[purrtagonist]

Comforting, hm. . .

[he wants to ask why, but. . . perhaps that's a conversation for when they aren't surrounded by people? for now, Akira leans over and searches the song list for another duet]

You like the upbeat, peppy songs, right?

[messianic]

[That's probably true.

Either way...!!]

Mm, yes, I do.

[He'll patiently wait and see what Akira picks out.]

I like that they have a lot of energy, and a lot of vocal variety.

[purrtagonist]

[another peppy pop song! he's more of a jazz guy himself, but. maybe they can sing something smooth and velvet-y next]

Then here's your chance to show off. Dazzle the crowds, Minato.

[messianic]

[MAYBE HE WILL...!!

With Akira goading him on, Minato will at least fling himself into it full-heartedly.

He's got a pretty impressive vocal range on him, even if he's never had any formal training.]

[purrtagonist]

[it is impressive. Minato can belt out cutesy pop lyrics with the best of them, that's for sure. what Akira doesn't have in vocal talent he makes up for in energy, though. HE'S BOUNCING AGAIN]

[stop him]

[messianic]

[Why would he ever stop him... Minato thinks it's so endearing. He bounces right along with Akira, smiling brightly.

The song is over too soon, and Minato just leans against Akira a bit, still pretty exuberant.]

... I'm glad we can still have moments like this.

[purrtagonist]

[. . . takes a quick glance around the room, before his arm snakes around Minato's shoulders. VERY SUBTLE, AKIRA]

We've got to chase every moment of normality he can in a place like this.

[messianic]

Yeah... you're right about that.

[He can't say he minds that at all, really, leaning into Akira's hold quite comfortably.

Wow gross.]

[purrtagonist]

[SUPER GROSS!1 the funny thing is they could be grosser, but Akira is behaving himself]

Have you seen the soft room yet?

[messianic]

I've taken a look, but I haven't spent much time there.

[This is them behaving themselves which is bad.]

Why do you ask?

[purrtagonist]

It looks like fun. . .

[YOU COULD ROUGHHOUSE IN THE SOFT ROOM AND NOT GET HURT]
