WEEK 3

Week three opens like the other two weeks, but when you wake up, you know there's been a change in the area. At first, nothing is wrong - but when you look at any window, you aren't greeted with the cheery sight of the outside - instead, there's just a cold, harsh blackness. Trying to leave out the doors is impossible, too - if you try, you just find yourself back on the couches in the lobby. On top of that....The Staff are beginning to act even stranger, their glitching out becoming more obvious. Sometimes, they seemingly go blank mid sentence and walk away, as if they were reset, and slur or stutter their words.

The weather is...well, non-existent, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. Yet, it doesn't seem like you're any closer to solving this...

And time still ticks onwards, regardless if you're ready or not.

Apparently the boy- Yoshi- didn't eat well at first. A lot of junkfood instead of healthier food. He crashed and wasn't able to interact with anything for a day or so, too lethargic and weak. Couldn't hold onto anything or type messages.

...Huh. [Ripley crosses her arms.] I can't pretend to understand any of this. But...it sounds like you've got everything handled.

Will you at least take a break for Phil's sake? I don't think he'd want you to have a headache from overworking yourself.

[Medic makes a few attempts at a rebuttal to that. He winds up crossing out and erasing whatever he wants to say a few times [if Ripley pays close enough attention, she can spot the words "I don't want", "I'm worried", "Please don't", and similar fragments in various failed attempts] before finally settling on:]

[Ripley doesn't respond at first, watching as the sticky notes get crumpled and thrown to the side. She raises an eyebrow, crossing her arms and leaning against the table.]

I can't believe I'm saying this, but...I think spending some time with Phil would be good for you. He clearly enjoys being around you [despite her constant exasperation towards him] and you probably need the respite. This thing isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

[Gestures towards the scrapped Medigun on the table.]

[As joking as the note is, Medic does hear what she's saying, and he does appreciate it. He hovers the pen over the note for a few seconds, trying to think of what to add, before settling on a hopefully sincere-sounding "thank you."]

[She narrows her eyes towards the sticky note, then up towards where she guesses Medic's face would be. (She likely misses by a few feet.)]

I'm not your senior commanding officer. Do whatever the hell you want.

[Wait. Maybe she shouldn't have said that.]

Do whatever you want within reason.

I feel like I should warn you that I'm pretty sure we have wildly different ideas of what "within reason" entails

[Ripley rolls her eyes, waving a hand dismissively.]

You clearly haven't talked to me enough. You see a whole lot of shit when you spend way too many months in deep space. Some things you just have to accept and ignore.

[She's just...intolerant to Phil's bullshit.]
