WEEK 3

Week three opens like the other two weeks, but when you wake up, you know there's been a change in the area. At first, nothing is wrong - but when you look at any window, you aren't greeted with the cheery sight of the outside - instead, there's just a cold, harsh blackness. Trying to leave out the doors is impossible, too - if you try, you just find yourself back on the couches in the lobby. On top of that....The Staff are beginning to act even stranger, their glitching out becoming more obvious. Sometimes, they seemingly go blank mid sentence and walk away, as if they were reset, and slur or stutter their words.

The weather is...well, non-existent, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. Yet, it doesn't seem like you're any closer to solving this...

And time still ticks onwards, regardless if you're ready or not.

[He frowns as he hears this and sets down his cup.]

You'd think it wouldn't take me damn near a decade to teach me something.

[Phil that is entirely because you spent that damn near a decade indulging yourself to death.]

Shouldn't they at least give you a clue of what they're supposed to teach you?

A decade? Ah, must be your first time encountering them. It took me quite a few to realize what was going on my first time!

And normally, it's 'be a better person.' Though some of them have their own goals, like 'rob a bank' or ' [INCOMPREHENSIBLE SCREAM OF THE DAMNED,]' Small things, really, but you can't blame them for balancing out the karmic debt of the universe, can you?

[Pets cat sagely, nodding.

His eyes bobble around.]

[Phil recoils back at the scream, and he just stares at him in mild horror before he speaks up.]

I'm pretty sure robbing a bank isn't my goal.

[Because he's definitely done that.

A lot.]

Not really. Look, I'll be the first one to say that I'm not a great person, but I don't think it's bad enough to trap me in a small town in a time loop.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply you were! When I say 'karmic debt', I mean the general debt of the universe. It's the time loop's job to keep the balance between [GRONK] and [EEEERNK] from going one way or the other. It's a nasty job, really, but what else do they have? It's like when you have to head to the governmental offices every so often to make sure that you're still considered a viable existence in the universe - you pity the poor clerks behind the desk, yes?

I can't say I've put much thought into it. I just assumed that the entire universe wanted to watch me suffer.
