WEEK 3

Week three opens like the other two weeks, but when you wake up, you know there's been a change in the area. At first, nothing is wrong - but when you look at any window, you aren't greeted with the cheery sight of the outside - instead, there's just a cold, harsh blackness. Trying to leave out the doors is impossible, too - if you try, you just find yourself back on the couches in the lobby. On top of that....The Staff are beginning to act even stranger, their glitching out becoming more obvious. Sometimes, they seemingly go blank mid sentence and walk away, as if they were reset, and slur or stutter their words.

The weather is...well, non-existent, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. Yet, it doesn't seem like you're any closer to solving this...

And time still ticks onwards, regardless if you're ready or not.

But truly, I love my work. The children are always so delightful! Though it is a little embarrassing when you're out and about, getting groceries or doing errands, and the little ones instantly sniff you out and go 'Look, mum, there's -'

[INCOMPREHENSIBLE SHRIEKING GURGLE]

- and swarm around you.

[...Yikes. Yoshi's eyes widen just a little at the sound but THAT'S FINE THIS IS FINE.

"Didn't know there were celebrities here, too! But, uhh... can you normally see and hear ghosts? That girl, Cinque, can't see or hear me at all! You're the first living I've gotten to talk to in a while."]

I wouldn't call myself a celebrity, but I'll gladly take the compliment!

[A pause.]

Hm! That's quite odd - I just assumed you were on a different layer of existence, but death and life are rather nebulous, after all. One of my collegues is actually on the same kind of level as you, and he works and is heard just fine. Or are primate-based lifeforms unable to make out -

["Maybe I am? But I definitely suuuuper died.

I guess we just can't make out-"

Yoshi tries to imitate the siren sound. It probably sucks.

Oh! My, that 's...an interesting accent. I'm assuming you don't have the correct vocal cords for the [ACTUAL GODZILLA SCREECH]'s - english. IT's fine, though - I can understand you.

[Pats Yoshi's head.]

That's quite sad, though. I have had so many conversations with the life-challenged, many of them elucidating in their own right. I hope you have a support group, or something like that for your kind in here?

["Probably not!"

Eyes closed for the head pat, but we're still doing okay for now.

"Umm... not really! We're trying to find out who's, like, eating us here though."]

Eating you? Hm - that seems a little odd. While the occasional nibble between species is nothing new, are you saying it's not consensual?

["Definitely not! The Barghest staying here killed me to feed a puppy, and the Jorogumo ate someone else who didn't want that, either!"

Probably. Szayel is weird.

"Isn't that rude? And now we're too dead for our friends to see us anymore."]

MY! That is terribly rude of them - though I do wonder if it isn't a culture thing. Perhaps you're all acting in a way they assume is an explicit 'yes, please eat me?' And they might not know that primates can't see the life-challenged.

Still, if I see any of them around, I'll try to give them a talking to. Though it is a bit strange they would go for those like us.

["Those like us? What do you mean?"]

Those that aren't from here. This universe, I mean. It's quite obvious, you know? The Hotel here is quite highly rated throughout the multiverse. That's why I assumed you were all on holiday.

[Gapes.

"It is?! We just woke up on the way here. But then again that might be because of the people that hired us..."

Hrm. Okay!

"Anyway, I think we're supposed to be here to check out why the Jorogumo and Barghest are eating people, but uh... they just ate us instead. Do you think maybe someone's messing with the weather so they can keep us here? I think they might've decided that they don't care how rude it is as long as they get an extra nice meal out of people like us, 'cause the Barghest didn't sound like he was very sorry about it."]

Hmmm....I can't say I rightly know. As for the weather, the Void does seem to be just perfect, but I know it might look different to you.

-Ah, but look at the time. I've got to go do some of my vocal practices before I forget! I'm sure you'll get other people coming in for hugs soon. Or perhaps yesterday!

[....Time is weird for cookie gojira.]

[Handing Yoshi an oversized chocolate-chip cookie, before turning and stomping out of the cafe.
