WEEK 3 MINGLE

WEEK 3

Week three opens like the other two weeks, but when you wake up, you know there's been a change in the area. At first, nothing is wrong - but when you look at any window, you aren't greeted with the cheery sight of the outside - instead, there's just a cold, harsh blackness. Trying to leave out the doors is impossible, too - if you try, you just find yourself back on the couches in the lobby. On top of that....The Staff are beginning to act even stranger, their glitching out becoming more obvious. Sometimes, they seemingly go blank mid sentence and walk away, as if they were reset, and slur or stutter their words.

The weather is...well, non-existent, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. Yet, it doesn't seem like you're any closer to solving this...

And time still ticks onwards, regardless if you're ready or not.

[Phil flashes a thumbs up as he heads to the kitchen.]

Popcorn, got it!

[In the very least Phil is going to listen to her request! When he gets to the kitchen, he grabs a back of popcorn and throws it into the microwave.]

Luckily the popping should cover up any suspicious sounds for a bit.

[Medic takes a minute to catch up- he's trying to keep quiet and moves much slower, as he doesn't want any non-ghosts to notice he's gone yet.

He sneaks up behind Phil just in time for him to turn around after putting the popcorn in the microwave, and kisses him roughly, one hand threaded in Phil's hair.

Surprise, he had ulterior motives all along!]

[Phil makes a muffled sound of surprise at the kiss, but he quickly relaxes and returns the kiss, wrapping his arms around Medic’s back.

After a few moments he breaks the kiss.]

I can’t believe you. This wasn’t about alcohol at all, was it?

[Phil does not sound upset by this development.]

[It sure is a good thing that absolutely no one is around in the kitchen to see Phil get kissed by an invisible man because that shit definitely looks weird to a bystander

this is definitely not an invitation for someone to just kinda stroll in here and watch Phil make out with thin air

Medic puts his stickynote pad on Phil's chest and scribbles something down before showing it to him.]

The alcohol thing was real, I just also really wanted to kiss you again :)

[Phil lets out a laugh as he reads this over.]

It's only been a couple of days. How badly do you want me?

[But he's not complaining as he goes to kiss him again.]

Don't get any ideas

we're in public, essentially

[He kisses back, eventually moving to trace them down his jawline. He stops long enough to write another note:]

we should probably stop in a minute before Ripley gets suspicious :(

[That said, he's certainly not doing anything to move away.]

Right. The last thing we want is Ripley figuring out that we're here to sneak booze.

[...]

Oh well she's probably distracted.

[And he's just going to go to kiss Medic again.]

[Hmm. Phil hasn't been back in a while. It doesn't take that long to make popcorn, does it?

What a great opportunity for Ripley wander in to see how that's coming along and overhear what Phil said :^)]

Phil? Are you--

[Stops. Stares at Phil for a moment being kissed by an invisible force who she is almost 99% sure is Medic, given the sticky notes floating through the air. She stands there for a few minutes, waiting for either of them to notice. Once they do, she turns around and leaves without another word.]

[Ah, fuck.

Medic glances behind him and just sort of. Waves awkwardly at Ripley with the hand holding the sticky notes. She may be able to hear faint laughter from him- on the one hand, they got caught; on the other hand, this is hilarious to him.

When she leaves, Medic buries his face in the crook of Phil's neck, still giggling helplessly.

Sorry, Ripley.]

[Phil is stunned for a moment as he watches all of this go down. At first he's horribly embarrassed to see that Ripley of all people walked in on them.

Then he breaks into laughter as well.]

It looks like your cover was blown after all.

[It took a couple weeks, but Medic finally managed to make Phil laugh at himself.

Or, well. At Medic, but tangently at himself.]

We should probably ACTUALLY get what we came for before she comes back with a chair

[Congrats Medic! You got Phil to laugh at himself in a cheerful manner and not in a self loathing manner.]

You're right. The last thing I want is to be beat up by her again.

You get the booze and I get the rest of the snacks?

[Medic did a good thing for once in his life it's truly a miracle]

Especially since it'd be my own fault, not yours

[There's a lot of perks to being invisible. Being able to smuggle bottles of alcohol under his also-invisible coat is one of them. Sure, Szayel will notice, but Szayel probably won't rat him out to Ripley.]

Of course, you owe me for the wrath I'm going to encounter soon.

[Phil takes the time to make extra popcorn (because he's not a monster) and grab more snacks before heading back to the restaurant.]

Got you extra popcorn, Rips. Sorry about earlier.

[What with the kissing.]

[Ripley's sitting at a table, face in her hands. She looks up at Phil and sighs, looking 100% done with him in general. After a pause, she snatches up the popcorn and immediately starts munching on it.]

I'm trying to have a meeting here, you know. If you want to just make out with your boyfriend all night, feel free to leave.

[(professor oak voice) there is a time and place for everything]

[To Phil:] I'll make it up to you later ;)

[To Ripley:] If it helps you not try to beat him to death with a chair, it was my fault. I'm too handsome

[... The last part is a joke but it probably doesn't translate well]

...You're invisible.

[Ripley frowns, stuffing her face with another handful of popcorn. Oh, my God. She didn't eat dinner today because she was busy thinking about organizing this meeting. No wonder she's so fucking hungry.]

But really, we've been here for what, an hour now? Isn't it maybe time to call a recess here? Just a liiittle break?

[Ripley pauses. She does need to get some food for herself, but she Doesn't Trust Like That. But...

She gets up from her chair, sighing.]

Fine. But don't get too crazy, okay?

You should take some, Rips. You're the one who's working the hardest out of all of us. You're going to have an heart attack if you keep stressing yourself out like this.

[Look he's... really making an attempt here.]

Them staying isn't gonna stop 'em. Any moment Phil's silent it's because he's got someone's lips over his mouth.

[Iwai, that's not something you should say aloud, hah! But yeah, even though Iwai sympathizes with Ripley's attempts to keep order, he's also kind of amused at the thought of Phil having to awkwardly kiss thin air.

It's hard to be a responsible adult]

If it's any consolation the Medic guy's gonna be the first to notice if something's off with Phil.

[All this is making him think the Medic is going to stay with Phil for long periods of time at once, he most likely will see if Phil behaves strangely or is killing anyone. They can trust his judgment regarding Phil]

[Ripley snorts.]

I guess so. Though, if I'm being entirely honest, I'm not looking forward to the day Phil says that he was having sex as an alibi.
